Arrowhead has a really nice biking & hiking trail, we did it last year on our bikes. Also Killbear has a trail just to the side of the park road from one end to other that you can bike on. Those are the two that we've come across so far...

Yeah, forgot how bad the road was. Couple of times i thought my hitch would separate from the truck along with the trailer.

My daughter lives there 8 months a year. She loves it.

That Killarney road is a beast. You have to take some parts of it at 50 kmh or the cabinets may come down.

I've not, but, several of my friends have. They were not thrilled with the park. It was like being in downtown Toronto they said.....a lot of weekend warriors from the City.

I've heard the same kind of comments about Sibbald Point.

That's how I feel about Balsam Lake. I know some like it but I wasn't enthused about tight campsites, little privacy and a VERY LONG trek tot he beach.

We were at sibbald this summer. The campsite we stayed on was huge. Maybe because it was a non electric site. We couldn't see our neighbors and there was nothing behind us. The beach is where all the bad comments are from. It is very crowded and not a very good beach. We won't be going back because of that.

Grundy is a great park, we have been twice. Stayed four days this year and got our 31 foot into a pull through site 50 feet from the lake and 50 feet from flush toilets. You can fish from the shore rocks, warmest lake water I have been in. Great park for biking, walking.

We just returned from 10 days at Presquille PP, off the 401 at Brighton. Super excellent campground. We always stay at the "Trails end" in the 400's. This park is excellent for biking......not sure in your question if you are meaning mountain biking or just biking in general? You can bike along the shoreline from ene to end, go the other direction and there is a lane going to a lighthouse and interperative centre. This loop goes on for 5-7 km around the point, and gives access to walking trails.

Bonus for Presquille this season as they rebuilt there dumpstation. Now a dual dump area and dual potable water filling stations, widened the area and seems they took some of the grade off.

I fully recommend "Dougalls" restraunt in Brighton for a night out, the crispy salmon bites are to die for.

There is two beaches but most of the time we swim right off of our campsite, there is flat rock there, need water shoes or something but for a quick deep its the place to be.

Thanks, Kevin. Presqu'ile is a very popular park and under an hour from us, but we've never camped there. We'll try to book a site in late May. Should be easier to get a site then vs. the summer.

When we are making our plans and booking, which is about March if you want a scouted out site and longer time period, my wife has her finger on the register button on the PP website. The beauty of Presquille vs Sandbanks, which is the other side of the Bay of Quinte, generally a different group of people, Presquille is known for bird watching etc....Sandbanks has a different reputation for a more party crowd.....this is a generalization mind you but I do not like to deal with teens out for the weekend. Again using a pretty big "paint brush" here but we go camping for the quiet and peaceful experience.

We drove through Presqu'ile last Spring to scout out the campsites and it didn't seem to have a lot of sites for 32'+ trailers. Very nice long, wide beach though. We haven't been to Sandbanks because of the party reputation. We also prefer more peaceful, less crowded campgrounds. A recent stay at Sherkston Shores RV Resort confirmed our dislike of crowded campgrounds.

We're headed to Mew Lake Campground in Algonquin PP on Sept. 26th. I'm planning to go north on Highway 35/115 but I'm not sure which route would be better roads for towing:

- Hwy. 35 all the way to Hwy. 60 on the west side of Algonquin, OR
- Hwys. 115 and 28 to Bancroft then 62 and 127 to Hwy. 60 on the east end of Algonquin.

Both routes are about the same driving time for us. It's been 16 years since we've been to Algonquin so I don't know what the roads are like along either route now. I'd really appreciate some advice.

Alan, I would go 35 all the way to 60 then go through park, 28 to 62 to 127 has some bad patches of pavement ( as of last year) going through park will be nice this time of year.

I'd personally go 12 -11-60. The highways are good and 12 shouldn't be busy this time of year. If you wanna stay off the highways. I know 28 to 62 as far as Bancroft is good. They did a lot of construction.
North of Bancroft I couldn't tell you.

I'd prefer to stay away from busier highways like 12. It had a lot of heavy truck traffic when I took it on my way to Awenda PP back in the Spring although I'd take it any day over 400. Hwy. 35 will be less busy but I haven't been up that way for quite a while. I know it's more scenic than 12.

Me as well, I detest Hwy. 12. too many stop lights and gravel trucks on the road. I just got back from a week at Algonquin (Rock Lake). I always take 115/28 when I can. Both are better driving and less stressful.

There are lots of fuel stops on this route: Shell/Bancroft, Maynooth, Hwy 127 and Whitney. You'll be lucky if see 10 vehicles on 127.

You could kill two birds with one stone by taking 115/28/127. You could tour Lake St. Peter, it's only 2 kilometers off 127 and will take you 10 minutes to tour it.
