Share some pictures from Alberta Canada trip

I found some great pictures from beautiful Alberta Canada I wanted to share with you all. I spent over 30 days with my friends seeing Alberta for the very first time. It was beautiful and so enjoyable. The Canadian folks were super and definitely showed us around their great Providence

Some of the pictures are from Banff, Jasper Ice Fields Waterton Lake NP to name a few places we traveled. And yes we did make it to the Calgary Stampede. I have lots and just picked a few.
So if you ever thought of visiting Alberta this should make you want to set plans soon.

I have also visited the Canadian Maritime, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, PEI and a short trip into Ontario.
My next trip will be to visit BC.

Great trip and great pics! I grew up between Calgary and Banff and your pics sure brought back some great memories!

BTW, so funny that your trip map has Granum, AB as a way point - as you may recall, it's one of those "Don't blink, you might miss it" towns on Highway 2, with maybe a grain elevator, a PetroCanada station and a Dodge dealership (maybe a bit more, but you get the idea) - and there is a Forum member from there! I can't recall his user name, but I'm sure he'll comment on your thread . . .

For folks who have never been to Canada I must explain the bridge over the highway.

They built them over the highway for the animal herds to migrate without getting hit by cars and trucks. It has trees and stuff like you can see and have been working.

The lake I'm sitting on a rock in front I believe is Moraine Lake which is more beautiful in person.

If you're talking about the first picture after the map, that's not Lake Louise (and yes, Lake Louise IS beautiful) - it looks like Moraine Lake, which is a smaller lake a couple of miles away. Most visitors to Lake Louise do the "twofer" with a short drive up to Moraine Lake as well, for the reason shown in your photo!

Any way you slice it, a beautiful part of the world.

And yes, the wildlife crossings have been very successful in maintaining the natural migratory patterns in a number of different animals.

This thread is giving me itchy feet!!! I may have to convince the wife that we need to make an in person visit JUST to confirm that it is in fact Moraine Lake . . .

Even if you don't go this year start planning 2021 for the route I took.
I'm telling you I was amazing of the sheer beauty of the northern Rockies.
The whole providence was amazing.

GREAT pictures. While in the USN I was stationed at Argentia, Newfoundland from 1980-83. Best duty I ever had at the joint base of US and Canadian forces. The base has been closed for quite some time now but I would like to make a return trip one day. I remember driving 2 hours on snow and black ice to take my daughters to St Johns so they could eat at McDonalds. Again, great pics and we plan on going there as well one day. Ken

Thanks for posting the pictures I live in ontario and you haven't seen canada till you travel up here to the northern part. Algonquin park is a great place to visit. Take the back way to get there thru hwy 35. And why 60. And travel too north bay thunder bay. My favorite spot is perry sound .with the thousand islands. I have been to Alberta to see relitives and traveled to Quebec city . Another historic spot. I love being a Canadian we have such a wonderful history here. With native a historical sites. Please come back we enjoy showing off our beautiful country.

Yes I live in Granum Ab. there isn't much left there now, an independent gas and convenience store I bank without an ATM a post office a museum a small golf course, a decent campground. School up to grade 9 and a few other small businesses. No grain elevators they burned down and were not rebuilt.
I do like your pictures of Banff and lake Louise area.

Ha - good on ya', Don! I knew you'd jump on!

I used to travel Highway 2 many moons ago - lots of hockey travel and then had a buddy who went to University of Lethbridge, so a few weekend trips down that road.

And, to be honest, I was just guessing on the grain elevators!

Iggy, glad you enjoyed the province of Alberta, much to see in all of Canada. Try British Columbia for some spectacular scenery. I may be biased.

Thanks, spelling Oppps.

Maybe you can start a thread here telling us about some of the great campgrounds in BC as well as what to see when we visit.

Thanks and I do plan visiting BC next.
