Winter RVing in Eastern Canada

I get an e-newsletter from Go RVing Canada. The latest issue has an article on winter RVing. Which got me wondering whether there is anything available in Eastern Canada. Doing my best googling, I can find reference to winter camping in Alberta and BC but no other results.

I have friends who plan to head out across Canada for however long beginning in April or May, whenever they can get their rig out of storage. They are fearless and think nothing of overnighting in church parking lots, the gated entrances to closed parks, and whatnot. I’m more reserved and prefer designated camping.

In my experience, campgrounds, both private and provincial/national all close up tight in October and reopen in May or June.

Does anybody have any leads?

Sorry for the delayed response to your post…….guess I missed it.

In Ontario…..there’s 2 campgrounds that I know of, that have limited sections of their entire campground open all year. They are both fairly close to the 401, which for those that don’t know, is the major highway paralleling Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. I suspect they’re open to offer something for those that may be heading South as partial Snowbirds to the lower South Eastern United States.

That said……Ontario is COLD COLD COLD for winter RVing, and not for the faint of heart.
