Battery Replacement

We have a Lexington 255 GT. Our old 2 batteries were getting to be
6 years old, in preparation for an extended trip, we decided to replace
them. Our old batteries were a pair of 27 series marine deep cycle.

Wanted to upgrade to a little more reserve capacity without going to
a battery such as CROWN or OPTIMA or 6 volt batteries.

We purchased 2 31 series DEKA 31dc batteries for 20% increase in
amp hrs.. They were a half inch longer than the 27 so we increased
the length of the battery tray by straightening the rear lip of the tray
and welding on a few tabs. Repainted the tray and they fit perfect. We
chose DEKA because they were locally available and had very good
reserve capacity at 23 amp draw down.
