Onan 4.0 start/stop switch is flashing service me

2005 Lex 283 with 49 K miles

Purchased this E450 on March 19, 2020. Onan gen had only 67 hrs on this date and now on July 24, 2020, has only 73 hrs

RV dealer said they changed gen oil on March 19, 2020

Today, gen hour glass symbol began flashing as if gen needs service

What should I do? BTW oil level is good.

Should I check air cleaner?

Other things to check?

Thanks much. I need your help again but am really learning

Check that the "altitude" dial on the generator - remove the cover look behind all the wires is set for your area - mine was set for 7000 ft and did not run well when I got it, caused service light - went nuts trying to figure out what was wrong.

Start it and use some carburetor cleaner (gumout) on it - if it starts or cranks.

Check the air filter.

Google how to reset the error code - reset the code and see if it comes back...

-Good luck,

Bill

If you don’t have a manual for your generator, it would be wise to get one. You may be able to get one from their web site. Here is one possible source: https://www.cummins.com/rv-generator-manuals

Resetting gen code

Thanks BB. Yes I do have a manual but it's not clear as to how to

First--See first number of flashes (1-9)

Second--See second series of flashes (10-40)

Determine reason for first & second flashes

Correct prob

Cancel codes

Has anyone else done this? Prob an easy procedure but not so much for this older gentleman (almost 80)......lol

Help please

BTW 4.0 Onan runs flawlessly, starts immediately, has new oil filled to top of dipstick, has clean air filter............so maybe code is in error? Just maybe...

Are you talking about the hour meter inside the coach flashing an hourglass symbol? If so, that may be normal. I'm almost 100% sure that my parents 4k gen set does that in their MH. My lawn mower and other power equipment flash the hourglass while it is running. FYI, my parents hourmeter doesnt look like some of the onan versions I have seen. Theirs looks very generic.

The hour glass symbol always flashes on mine. I've got 680 hours on the meter. Annual oil changes, air filter and spark plug.

I found a nest on top of my motor this summer. Cant be too vigilant on inspections.
