Painting Lexington Decals

Well I took on a task that I have done before, but not in 4 different colours. Yes I repainted the decals on the one side of my Lexington 255DS, It was very labour intensified, Especially the prep the painting was the easy part. It took me 4 days for one side and 1 day for the drivers side where I had to just add the 2 red swirls. It never had a red but I thought I would try it and it turned out great. The red just brightened everything. The colours I used were Kona Brown, Ruby Red, Gloss Black and a semi gloss Silver. All covered with 2 coats of clear coat. It actually turned out just perfect.

Did you remove the original decals first then tape along the shade created by their removal or did you outline them in tape then remove them or come up with your design?
BTW awesome job.

Yup…..great work. You’re a real artist. Your swirls are amazing similar to our Sunseeker except our darker shade is blue not black.

Painting Lexington Decals

I left the old decals on. It is actually very easy, When masking off with 1/4 inch automotive masking tape. And expanding the decal size by 1/16th all around. Than sanding entire decal with 400 sandpaper, escpecially the edges. Than applying 3 to 4 light coats of paint and finally with 2 coats of clearcoat. It was just very labour intensified.

Painting Lexington Decals

Thank you. The project actually took me one colour per day, 4 colours one side and red on the drivers side so five days and than about 6 hours of a good polish. So she is sparkly shiny to be put away for the winter...

Great job. I"m about to take it on, if it will ever stop raining. I thought about using some red but I thought it might be too loud. Thanks for the pictures. The red accent looks great. I may give it a try.

I was planning to mask most of the coach. It looks like you didn't. How did you manage drift?
