I bought a 2007 Lexington GTS (Grand Touring Series) in December. Behind the sofa, I found two leather (or leatherette) sticks about 2 or 3 inches square and 3 to 4 feet long. Each one has a thick metal plate about 4 inches wide and 6 inches long sticking out, obviously to hold it in whatever place it is intended to be. But I cannot find a place for it to be. Took a picture, but can't get it sent here. Can anyone tell me where they are used?
Do you suppose they are for installation into the seam between the seat back and the seat, when the couch is laid flat for sleeping purposes? I am thinking they might be to provide a little flatter sleeping area.
They are spacers for your "Jack Knife" couch/bed. When your couch is in the seating position you have rounded arm rests on each side. When in the bed position (folded out), you can lift straight up on these arm rests and pull them out. You replace them with the spacers you mention. Each is specific to a side of the couch. The metal "tabs" slide into a metal bracket attached to each side of the couch. These spacers fill in a gap on each side when you pull out the arm rests. The spacers provide a flat surface to set up your bed.
I hope this is indeed what you are describing and makes sense to you.
