First, Welcome from Upstate NY. Great info here.

Second, what "random emails"?

Only time I get an email from this site is if I have a PM (Private Message).

I got an email wishing me a happy birthday. I get tons of emails every day and try to eliminate as many random ones as I can.

Go to UserCP at the top of the thread and scroll down to the things you can opt into or out of.

Interesting I don't get Random emails from this site, other than ones I ask for and PM's.

ON the full web version of FRF (not the app), clcik on "user cp" in the top menu bar.

Now under "setting and options" on the left hand side, click on "edit options"

Now in the middle of the screen under "messaging and notifications" you will have a plethora of options you can opt in or out of. After you do all the selections , make sure to scroll down to bottom and "save changes"

I’m confused. I don’t see how anyone can get “tons” of emails from Forestriverforums.

Exactly. You don't get any email from FRF if you set your preferences correctly, both in FRF and your email application. You have the control.......

I believe he means that he gets tons of emails every day in general. Not just from FRF.

Honestly, I've gone without checking my emails for a few days and came back to find over 100 unread. I try to keep my inbox as empty as possible.

One (1) "random" -- not really random -- message a year from this site. How annoying.

I get a lot of emails from FR every day. They are updates on threads I've posted to or maybe read, I can't remember.
Doesn't bother me because I know I've subscribed to updates. Easy to hit delete in the emails.

You can comment on a thread and then unsubscribe to that thread if the emails bother you. I know sometimes the threads go on forever.
