Hello,
Is there any magic tricks to make that "American Tourister" ad go away? I can't say how times I rolled over it with the mouse to click on something and that ad pops up in full screen. I haven't had any problems with the other ads - just this particular one.

The American Tourister ad is a pain in the rear.....I have had the same thing happen a couple of times today. I will PM our admins to see if they can do something about that.

you could also turn your popup blocker on in Internet explorer to keep this from happening

FireFox with No Script and AdBlock works great to keep the crud out.

Janet has already contacted the ad agency, but it might take a day or 2 to remove the ad.

Does anyone really spend the money these days on expensive luggage? You can buy the cheap stuff from the big box retailers and it lasts for quite a few years. then you replace it with another cheap suitcase and so on and sor forth. And JMHO, but I don't want to spend big bucks on a suitcase that an airline is going to use for a punching bag.

I started a new job in Feb that lets me work from home but involves some travel. The one piece of advise I received from traveling consultants was not to buy expensive luggage. I now see why... after my first trip, my bag looked like someone held on to in and drug it along the pavement when they were bringing the bags to the carousel.
...and they charged me $25 for that

I had a friend that had the zipper break on her suitcase, clothes spilling out as it came out of baggage claim. I taped it up as best I could with duct tape before having to send it back through the system after going through customs. After seeing that, I now travel with a strap wrapped around my suitcase. So far, TSA has buckled the strap back into position after their inspections.
I have had wheel assemblies break, tears, luggage tags torn off, bent "frames", dirt ground in, etc. by the airline baggage handlers. Every time I buy a new suitcase, I look for 1s that might prevent the same thing from happening to the last 1......so far, the baggage handlers have found new ways to destroy my bags.

My DW's bag spit open and she was loosing clothes every where, I think better bags will last longer. Who cares what they look like in 5 to 10 years.

You are correct, I don't really care what they look like.....I just want them to last 5 years. Tears are hard to repair, as well as missing handles and wheels. I had duct tape on the tears on my last dive bag, until the tears got so big I was afraid some of my gear might fall out.
I do buy "good" (but not great) quality luggage. I look for big zippers, stout handles without weak links, a good strong pull handle, well made wheel assemblies, and tough fabric. My current suitcase is an Atlantic....I think.....the brand labels were torn off the 1st trip I took. I have a an "X" in duct taped on the back to cover a tear. There are numerous fabric "pulls" in various places. The bag is dirty. I have yellow duct tape on the handles, zippers, and wheel assembly for easy identification at the baggage carousel. I am hoping the worse it looks, the less likely the baggage handlers will try to destroy it.

American Tourister makes good stuff. I still have a 15 year old Tourister that has outlasted my cheap stuff by years. I think, I'm still money in with the more expensive Tourister, not to mention, not having to replace underwear. They are due to be replaced now. Underwear, that is.

I thought this thread was about pop up ads??
btw... I don't think I've ever seen that, or any, pop up here. I guess the adblock is working.
carry on....
pun intended.

Good point.....sometimes thread get way off topic. But since the subject of the thread should be taken care of in the next day or so, that shouldn't be a major problem here.
Arrrggghhh......I just had that pop-up ad appear again a couple of minutes ago.

After a dozen times or so you will really know that monkey from one end to the next.
Somehow I just have the skill to find the "roll over" feature without even trying.
Thanks for the update about the ad being change. The ad itself is harmless but that roll over feature has a magnet that attracts my computer mouse. But you have to give the person that designed it points for making sure the ad works as intended.
PS The larger the computer monitor the larger that monkey is.
