Are there problems with the web site??
I read this form using both IE9 and IE8 depending on the computer I am using. I keep both systems current with updates from MicroSoft. For the past several weeks the form web site opens in compatabaly mode and I have a banner at the bottom of my screen asking me to sign up for email delivery that will not close. I also need to log in for each thred I read.
Is there a problem with the form server?
Thanks

No problems with Firefox. I tried IE9 with the site this morning. Without being logged in, I was also unable to close that email subscriber banner. But once logged in the banner disappears and I did not have problems with having to log in for each thread as you reported.
I suggest that you contact the help desk. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and click on "Contact Us" in the green menu bar.
Good luck

The forum works using chrome. However I have been trying for over a week to download a manual for the 3170ds. The link goes to a blank window and nothing happens. I could not find a customer support email or phone number. Hope this is seen by IT so the link can be fixed.

Sounds like you may have had your IE highjacked.
Have you done a complete virus and maleware scan recently?
I would delete all of your stored cache in IE and see what happens.
Doesn't sound right and the website has been up and running and doesn't ask you about email delivery.
Sounds fishy

Compatibility View Screen Problem (IE)

Starting about mid-February, something in the forum display would cause my Internet Explorer v 9.0.14 browser to drop into compatibilty view.
In the process, it would refresh the forum page I was viewing or typing into, and set me as an un-logged-on user (with all the crud that fills the screen when you aren't logged in). So, I'd have to log in again, and if messaging or typing a forum response, start that completely over.
The error box reads: A problem displaying forestriverforums.com caused Internet Explorer to refresh the web page using Compatibility View.
Sometimes this happens infrequently, sometimes over and over a minute or two apart. Does not appear to be time related, or no response for a while related.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the ad stuff. You can sense something is happening in background as each forum page refreshes when logged on, and especially when not.
Either my virus or Explorer software is reacting to something on the page or in background code. It's only happening on the FRF web pages. I figure I'll have to put up with it since I stick to IE for security reasons and I like this forum.
Here's the screen display when it suddenly happens:

Curious as to what security reasons you are speaking of. From a technology perspective all browsers have their shortcomings, but from a security perspective I don't know of any higher risk using Chrome, FireFox, or Safari.
Have been an avid Chrome user for the last year or so, and would never go back.

Don't want to start a which browser is best or most secure debate here. There are enuf of those across the internet.
Glad you like Chrome and that it works well with this particular forum.
I've tried resetting some of the IE compatility view settings. One has to do with web site lists from Microsoft. May go back and turn that off again.
Took me a minute or two more to respond. You guessed it, happened again. Can't figure why it's only FRF that's doing it to me.

I agree, not looking for a debate, just want to understand if I am overlooking something. Might want to give IE 10 a shot to see if that makes a difference.

You are not overlooking anything. I should have worded it as personal feelings or inclinations or a less factual sounding phrase.
There are histories of people having IE problems (sudden shift to Compatibility View) with certain sites from IE 7, 8, and 9. I didn't have that experience until recently and just with FRF.
A brief history of suspected causes include fonts, JAVA, flash, obsolete page code and the like. More than I want to try to research extensively. I think IE in general jumps into compatibility view if it encounters things it did not know how to handle or disregard. I feel other browsers may disregard the encounters and continue or just handle them properly.
IE may figure it out and figure out what to do, or its problem sites may evolve naturally past whatever was IE's view trigger. Since there aren't any members complaining in mass, it probably has something to do with a particular setting or update to my IE version.

Site slow and not working well with IE 10 and really tired of the security content certificate error. Had my son reset all in my computer to proper settings (he is computer programmer) so I know it is not my problem.

I have experienced some of those same problems in the past but they have usually been short term and they disappeared by themselves. I also use IE but am not good enough at this to know what version it is but it is not chrome. My current problem is that every time I just view, or log in, or change from one thread to another whether logged in or not I get a banner that reads internet is not responding due to long running script. If I click on stop script it responds immediately. One thing I have noticed is that some of the ads and things are appearing as what appears to be Chinese type writing rather than a picture and copy. I had just done a virus check but am about to do another after I send this. It will be a full scan rather than a quick scan. Maybe those Chinese (not the government) hackers are trying to weasel into the forum to find out why we are so happy about everything but Chinese tires. Old Guys

I get a message saying too long a script, I click on "close", and it works correctly until I change the thread, then the same thing happens. The screen is blank until I continually left click on the mouse, then I get the message above.

Firefox
I am on firefox web browser now and site works perfectly. I keep getting warning messages on IE as well, and now suspect IE is the problem, not the FR website.

Like many here I'm also having the same problem and using IE too. This issue is being addressed by the forum team and hopefully things will return back to normal shortly.

Android client problems.
For approx 1 month now, pictures do not show up in posts and the current tab does not refresh by itself, have to refresh manually.
Same issues on Galaxy S2, S4 and Nexus 7.
Works fine on PC with Firefox or Chrome.
