You can report things yourself. That’s what the Report function provides. Use an ad blocker like the rest of us. They’re free.

This isn't the first time this has happened with DDoS, and why we have procedures in place to deal with it. There is a very dedicated tech team that strives hard to make sure the forums keep running. See previous thread on same:

Thanks as others it has only happened to me on this site and at least 20-50 times today. Not complaining. But was concerned the first 10 times.
For me it does it everytime that I look at or move to a different topic.

I would much prefer a 5 second delay at the beginning of the session than the consequences of a DDOS or spam posts. As mentioned this is only temporary until the level of unwanted activity ceases. It is Ok to be cautious, but there is no mining, but rather a simple check to determine the connection is not coming from a spam bot.

I've never seen it more than once per session, possibly because I leave the computer and browser open all the time. Only reboot the computer about once every two weeks.

The one that bites me is the location box every time I open a window in the forum. Not your business and no way to block it. AND once blocked does not stop it from coming back every time I open a subject. I read the earlier site team explanation, doesn't cut the intrusion.

You do have control over your browser's actions. You can usually find settings for it to not do anything automatically. And if you can't get that to work, use an adblocker. Many options to configure your computer environment to your liking instead of expecting each site you visit to adjust to your liking.
