Double Spacing in Threads?

I've been having an issue for the past few months. If I want to have a blank line (between paragraphs, etc.) I press "Enter" two times in a row and then continue typing. This shows up in my edit box as expected - paragraph end, blank line, new paragraph start. But when I submit the post (or preview it) I see two blank lines between paragraphs, both in the preview (or final) post and in the preview edit box. I can go into the edit box and manually delete the second blank line(s) and then they're gone for good.

I'm running Firefox 72.0.1 (64 bit) on Windows 10. As I mentioned, this is a (relatively) recent feature. I kinda thought it was a forum bug which someone would eventually fix, but that hasn't happened, so I thought I'd report it.

This post will demonstrated the extra lines - I won't go back and remove them.

Also, for me, this problem seems to be specific to the Forest River forums. I'm a participant in several other forums (probably based on different forum engines) and don't have a problem elsewhere.

Have you considered loading Chrome? As a technologist (my trade) not a fan of Firefox. In fact in my org, we migrated our 325k+ devices to Chrome. Works much better. Try it....and see if that helps. If not, you can always uninstall.

On a positive note....at least it's a double space and NOT CAPITALS FOR EVERYTHING! Nothing worse than being screamed at....

I must admit that I'm not a fan of Chrome - too much Google in my life already...not to mention too much Microsoft. (I've managed to stay out of the Apple world entirely.)

Anyway, I've been with Firefox more or less from the beginning (well, maybe Mozilla in the beginning...) and have it pretty highly customized to my needs. So I'd much prefer that the problem be fixed.

Same Issue

Dave,

I have the same issue and would like to see it fixed. It puts, seemingly, hard returns in where I did not.

Our grandson runs Chrome and complains a lot about problems. I run Firefox, like you, and have for years. Other than this forum, I have not experienced the problem.

I also have the same issue. I'm using Firefox 72.0.2 on a Mac running OSCatalina 10.15.2.

I've saw the same problem when I used Safari so I suspect it is related to the website not Firefox. That and this is the only forum / website were I have the double space issue.

Tested Edge and Chrome

Edge browser does not double space.

Chrome browser does not double space.

Appears to be an issue with the forum website and Firefox...

It's doing it to me as well. Glad there's a thread about it, but it's quite annoying.
1 return

2 returns

3 returns

Whitespace is your friend. Better a little extra than not enough.

When I see a wall of text, I scroll past the post.

BTW, are you getting an extra return, or is the blank line set at a higher pitch? I know that word processors offer that option. It may be an option for the text editor in your browser.

I use Mozilla Firefox 64-bit version 82 on 64-bit Windows 10 and have the same problem, it is not a higher pitch setting as you can edit your post and remove the extra empty line space.

It's also not a Chrome issue, as I do not and will not have Chrome on my pc. I also don't use Edge as it still uses embedded Internet Explorer for it's base.

I also use FireFox browser and Win 10. Same issue. I've gotten used to (almost always) going back to my post and editing out the extra blank lines.
No idea why it does that and have not been able to figure out any other way besides deleting the extra blank lines.
