Our New Look
As you can see we have an updated look for our community. We were trying to keep with the Forest River theme and plan to showcase member photos up in the Polaroids at the top right.
We have some other enhancements in the works to help navigate around the site but we need to do some house cleaning before we wrap those up.
Please post your thoughts, comments, ideas, suggestions here.

I really like this new look, however I am finding it rather hard to get used to the new forum layout. If you hide the information on the two right side bars there is way to much unused area. The large amount of right side white area just seems to be a waste. At least for me its taking alot to get used to.

I kinda agree with cardinal4fun that there is now a lot of wasted space without the right column displayed.
Overall, I like the new changes.....and I usually don't like change.
Thanks for asking for our input.

I like the freshened look of the boards. The color scheme is eye pleasing. As far as the right side link list goes, I can take it or leave it.

For some reason using the portal section still displays the old theme.

I want to make sure I understand this feedback so I can look for a solution.
Can you explain this a bit more "hide the information on the two right side bars"? Are you talking about disabling the right column with the recent threads? If so, then is the white space that is shown in the image below?
Do you know what your screen resolution is? Are you using a wide screen monitor?
FYI - the style is set to fit on smaller monitors of 1024 pixels up to wider monitors of 1260 pixels. If your screen resolution is much wider then 1260 it will have some blank space on both sides. This is simply a limitation of the layout to be able to design things so it will look good on the majority of monitors.

Love it! Great refreshing look! Please look into the picture area, and make that easier to navigate, and browse thru member's pics! LOVE to see other folks pics from around the countryside, and see their rigs, as well. Also, it has been discussed before on here, but I for one would like to purchase a Forest River Forums sticker to proudly display on my camper, IF we had one available for a small fee, of course. Thanks, Randy

If the right hand column is creating empty space on the right, remember you can turn it off. Please see this announcement for more instructions:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...html#post45563
Please turn off the right hand column and report back. Hopefully that will restore the layout to what you are looking for.

Andy, this is what my screen looks like without the top and bottom task bars:
I have a 22" wide screen, 1600 x 900 pixels.

mtnguy,
Thanks for posting the screenshot. That space is there because the max width is set to 1260 pixels wide. This is done so we can have a bit more control over the layout vs 100% fluid width which means it would show differently on every screen.
Another factor for this descision is the background image at the top. If we put in a larger and wider image the files size grows accordingly and since that's loaded on every page load we were trying to find a compromise between download speeds for our viewers on slow connections.
I'd suggest giving it a couple weeks and seeing if it starts to feel normal. If it's still bugging you I can talk to our web designer to see if we can figure out a solution. It might mean removing the background image but I happen to feel that gives it a nice touch.

Andy,
I commend you on the new look and the hard work. As I run my own site I understand the challenges of site layout and how much work it can be sometimes with little recognition or understanding of how time consuming it is.
The "wasted space" everyone is talking about doesn't bother me. I hope you can utilize it for other purposes and over time "fill it in". It might be nice to see an itemized FAQ section there with links to discussion threads for the most asked questions. Things like battery upgrades, inverters, appliance troubleshooting and several other topics seem to come up over an over again and new people don't seem to like to use the "search" function to find these discussions.
