Photo problems

I have been trying to upload a photo or an avatar to my profile. Can I assume that my failure to do so is because I have a Mac?

Smile Well Done!

Very nice photo.

Now you need to set up a photo account to upload your photos and we can help you better by seeing what is being discussed.

You can actually load images directly into threads. Click "go advanced' in the reply editor to see upload options

Unhappy Trouble managing the photos

I have been trying to delete two photos I put in my forum album for quite a while and have had no luck. What am I doing wrong?

OK, I will try the photo album thing - when I actually have photos to add.
When uploading to a post can I just 'add' them from the desktop or do they have to be in photobucket or something like that?
I still cannot get a photo to upload as part of a sig line. "upload failed" is the message I get.

Size limit

Most digital photos are a couple of megabytes.

The Avatar and Signature need to be smaller. I use a photo editor to reduce the size of the image density to get the file size under the maximum.

There is no maximum size on the photo sites.

Then you can drop the link to your photo into the thread.

You will see the photo when you click on the link.

I can do that with no problem. I was kinda hoping to put a pic in my sig tho.

So it's a drag and drop operation in the photo albums? I will give it a try that way. Macs often balk at PC ways of doing things tho, so I am used to work arounds.

For Sig pics:

"Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 468 by 60 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller)."

Need to make sure it's small enough.

The pic I was trying to upload was smaller than that. I have decided I don't need a sig pic.

Lou,

To delete a photo in an album, select "Edit Photo" and there will be a "Delete this photo" option.

Nope. Don't get that.

Click on the big green tab at the top of the forum. PHOTOS
Then click on a photo you uploaded.
Click on Edit Photo

NO OPTION to DELETE

Also you can't replace with another photo even though it says you can.
It just "adds" the new photo.

This feature is "hard broke."

The photos in that area are not in my photo albums.
In fact, I have no idea where they went.

Lou,

You and I need to hang out more often. I always learn new things from you.

I thought you meant the photo albums under the community tab. I had NEVER noticed the green photo tab. Now that I have been in there, I don't even know what I am looking at.

Anytime pal

Not sure where we are going this winter. We may do Southern Texas although DW liked Key West quite a lot.

I see you are a Software Product Manager.

Yep

Dearest Janet,

I know how to do that one.

However, at the top of the menu bar are four tabs.
Home Forums Classifieds and photos.

I uploaded two photos of a mod I was quite proud of until I found out my rear bumper would never support the load I put on it.

That mod is now history. However, the photos live on.

I have tried many times to delete (no delete radio button here), change (there is an option to change the photo) but it just adds the photo (the original is still there) you can also change the caption, (this works occasionally - mostly never), there is also an "update thumbnail" hot link. I am not sure what THAT does but I tried it a couple of times. It changed the thumbnail to the photo I was trying to replace.

These photos ARE NOT in my profile album. They are ... elsewhere.

Where? I don't know.

If you can shed some light here I would be in your debt. I am embarrassed enough as it is.
(Although I fixed the problem before it left the driveway)

They are in the photo gallery. I did a little experimenting and currently there is no way to remove an image (as you noted). I can delete an image for you if you like alternatively you can wait a day or two until we can get this fixed and then you can do it yourself. Thanks for pointing this out

Please delete my photos

Feel free to delete all the photos I uploaded to that gallery.

I will upload some good camping shots after the ones that are there are cleaned up.

Thanks again,
