wiki answer...

Tapatalk is an application to allow access to Internet forums on mobile devices,[1] developed by Quoord Systems Ltd.

Tapatalk is primarily designed to provide improved forum access for mobile platforms over access provided by the forum software itself. The application was originally designed for Android but now also supports iOS and Windows Phone. Tapatalk allows the user to have a unified interface to access multiple forums at the same time.

Forum software systems supported by Tapatalk are phpBB3, vBulletin, xenForo, IPBoard, Simple Machine, MyBB, bbPress, Kunena and Vanilla.

From what I recall, Tapatalk is an app that allows you to browse multiple forums all at once together. I'm not sure if the plan is to replace the current standalone app or to offer it in addition to the current app.

If I recall correctly, some folks asked a while back for Tapatalk because they already used it.

You are seeing the slidedown notice for tapatalk because in the next week or so we are going to be changing our app. Please ignore it for now but in a few days you should see a prompt to install our new FRF app which is based on the tapatalk platform. We're making this change because we're just not satisfied with the current app - lots of folks have had trouble and we believe this will be an improvement.

X2 what Turbs said

I have always felt that way too Janet...the web experience on the forums is just so much better than the iPad app.

In fact, I usually use Safari on my ipad to access the forums - sure wish I could turn off that annoying alert to use the FR Forum app

Looking forward to the new FR App though!!

We're working to get that alert shut off but I am not hopeful - it will disappear in a day or two when the new app is available for download and you may be able to dismiss it by clicking on the little x to the left of the teaser image

I suppose we can do that but really all you will need to do it to view the site with your device and you will be prompted to download. The prompt will have the FRF logo on it and be easy to recognize. It sounds complicated but it's pretty straightforward.

The App has been submitted to the playstore and itunes and it takes a few days before it is approved and ready for download.

Sounds like Google is tracking the sites you visit and custom tailoring ads for you.

Sadly, I have a site that ceases to work with that. I can't run it.
