To the wonderful moderators.
And to phellow phorum comrades
Has anyone ever expressed intrest in a tv mod and repair section?
I hate going to "other" phorums to research tow vehicle mods and repairs.
Seems to me Probably 80 percent of us "tow" our camping units and a mod and tech thread would be great.
I almost always go to "off" topic phor my upgrades and tech on my tv.
I've seen tons of threads on mpg and how to get more.
as well as air bags, 5th wheel hitches, shocks, tuners, MAINTENANCE etc etc
Thoughts?

I think it would be a good thread - especially with spring coming ( at least for some of us ) people are going to be ready to do mods, etc, that they have read about while their units are in storage or winterized.

Think it would be great for us old poor folks driving old broken down trucks trying to get more umph out of them. Especially old Chevys like mine.

I agree! I have been bouncing from here to a truck forum to piece together some towing information. One stop shopping sounds good to me!
Great Idea!

Sounds like a great idea to me. I think it would be very useful. Other RV forums have it.

My GMC is the same year as yours, it just gets smarter with age.

Ok Ill start the first question. I am considering Roadmaster Active Suspension for my truck because my new 5er is about 1000 pounds heavier than the last one and my truck sags pretty bad now. I was considering air bags like I had on my last 2 trucks but they always leaked and I had to replace both of them until I finally removed them as it was like a wife too much upkeep. Any comments/advice would be helpful. I an thinking thinking the Roadmaster first and then adding airbags if it does not work, but I am a bit skeptical!!!

I think this is a great idea. I bounce to several different forums to get ideas and help for my TV....would be nice to go to one place. I have seen a lot of different threads with some of these posts on here but it would be nice to have a couple of general categories out there for TV mods.
I would even be willing to post pics and detail of the install of my air bags and compressor that I will be doing once the weather warms up!!

It do sound like a good idea. In fact it could almost have a few child boards (ie: suspension, truck/van/suv/car, hitches, etc)
Note to the O/P:
I believe that's phorae, not phorums
not trying to be phacetious...

Probabaly a decent idea as long as we can keep the oh you should by a diesel out of a gasser question thread and the same for shoulda bought a (insert brand here) instead of (brand x) because of and blah blah blah. That stuff is getting kinda old around here. It would need to be broken out into the main brands kinda like the rv's are as there is alot of brand (and model for that matter) specific stuff that has no bearing on any other brand. For example HD trucks from all the big three have totally different front end designs (well up to 2013 anyway for Ram).

Yes, this forum needs this...others forums do this and it is a pleasant experience to stay on one forum and be able to share/learn about anything from the front bumper of the TV to the back bumper of the RV.

Very true ! But like all threads within a section can be closed when out of hand.

Great idea Turbs! Even though our Sabre is on a seasonal site and we don't tow it I think the addition of a tv mod and repair section would be an excellent addition to this forum. As stated in the op "Seems to me Probably 80 percent of us "tow" our camping units" A section like this would be of great interest and help out alot of people.

Even the young whippersnapper Turbs has good idea once in a while. Kinda like my grandpa use to say, "even a blind sow picks up an acorn once in a while"
NOW, if we can get some action from the nice moderators. eh?

I am all for the separate section on mods for TV, however my opinion would be to keep the child forums more generalized. I think if you start breaking them down to this level of detail it becomes difficult to define a starting and ending point. For example, would you include all cars/trucks/SUV models? What happens when a new model is introduced? You could potentially also start running the risk of more people using the FRF forums as a repair/sounding board even if they are not FR owners or even campers.
Again, just my opinion and I am all for the idea, but my previous experience in helping design web sites and even forums tells me that getting too granular here could create difficulties.
