Not sure what app you're using but I've been using the green FR app for Android, ever since it came out years ago. NEVER have had any ads.

Sammi, you won't be able to the message I wrote for you because I wrote it in the message title and the app developer forgot that part.
An app is supposed to: - Provide every function the website provided
- Provide a user experience appropriate for a handheld device with no pointing device (mouse)
The Forest River app developer failed to provide every function the website does--e.g., message titles. The app is incomplete.

Doh! I just realized I'm on the website on my phone, not on the app. I got confused cause I'm on my phone, not my computer. Sorry!! 🤪

There is a massive amount of overhead needed to keep these things online and running as smoothly as they do so good for them.

Whoa, I wish that was true! Forums are not lucrative like that but they are self supporting and that means we can keep the lights on.
We do indeed use an ad supported model to pay for the free service but if you simply log in the majority of them are reduce. We use this strategy to give our members a better experience and guests a little incentive to login.

These are only shown to guests so make sure you are logged in and they will go away.

That video is only shown to guests. Just login and it will not be shown.

It could be that when you delete your history it also deletes the cookie that keeps you logged in here. So when you return you see what a guest sees (more ads). Just make sure you are logged in to see less ads.

So, to access the site with more limited ads from a phone, one can log in direct to a website and not use Tapatalk’s app?
Tapatalk had annoying ads until I paid their low annual fee to avoid ANY ads. AFAIK, the biggest reason that a business wants you to use their app, is they acquire more of your personal data (which can usually be limited by the cookie choices), and apps don’t allow an ad blocker (at least mine) to work. Ad blockers delete not only ads but the associated revenue to the developers, also AFAIK.
Sent from my phone on Tapatalk.

Tapatalk is similar to the FR app but Tapatalk allows you to log into other forums that use the same type of forum connectivity.
I have about a dozen forums associated with my Tapatalk app. The green FR app is FR specific.

Exactly. Multiple areas of interest represented on Tapatalk with the option to opt out of ads for a fee. One forum I follow withdrew from the app due to its bigger share of their limited revenue. Their site now appears to be setback 15 years.

It's called "click bait". Advertisers will do almost anything to get your attention. The world is full of noise and they want to stand out.

The stupid ads, as well as just plain annoying ones, seem to be coming from "Google" when I am on the Forum.
Not sure the site owner really controls them.

I use Brave browser and it does an excellent job of filtering a lot of the stupid ads. It's build on chrome. They have a program where they show privacy-respecting ads and give you a couple of cryptocurrency tokens to look at them.
