Why the giant ads?

Hey admins what with all the annoying pop up ads on this site. I mean I know you gotta make $$ to keep the site running but man……..

This subject has been addressed twice in the last week. In those discussions it was obvious that these ads are on the user end as everybody is not seeing the same things.

And even when they do show up on my screen I tend to ignore them. It's really less annoying than the mountain of advertising Junk Mail I find in my mailbox.

Wjat I kind of find amusing is how many ads pop up for items I've just purchased online. Like I want to buy another one

As for Adblocker's, a lot of sites won't let you access any content until you turn any adblocker off.

Using AdBlock Pro on the Mac, and don't see any ads. Worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

As far as I’m concerned, I’m happy to put up with a few ads to compared to the value I get here, if your aren’t then feel free to leave.

I'm on with the website and not the app on my Android phone. Every page I open, a small video pops up in the lower right corner. If I close it, which is about a 70/30 success rate due to fat fingers, it goes away but as soon as I change pages another one takes it's place. As they're videos, I'm curious on what that is doing to my data usage when I'm not on wifi. Is there a way to stop these from popping up?

Are you:

• Using Windows?
• Using Firefox or Chrome or Edge?

If so, install uBlock Origin, using all the defaults.
