Why the giant ads?

What the heck is going on with the giant ads that are on every page lately? The numerous smaller ads are annoying enough but now there's an ad that takes up the whole screen when I scroll down every page.
I get that this is an ad-supported forum but for crying out loud, a full page television ad about flea and tick prevention?
I think my head's going to explode. 💥

Try using the app instead. It has no ads. The functionality is a bit different but in some ways it's easier and in some ways it's not.

You could donate alot of money each month to this free forum and maybe there would be less ads.

This free forum is owned by Social Knowledge LLC, a Texas company, with almost 2.5 million members.

https://www.socialknowledge.com/

Although they are a private company, the estimates of their revenue are usually around ten million dollars a year and I'm betting that's low. One web site I read that is just a single site reported they made over $600,000 a month in ad revenue during an interview the founder gave. And that was many, many years ago. There is a massive amount of overhead needed to keep these things online and running as smoothly as they do so good for them.

The 50+ online forums Social Knowledge, LLC owns:

RV - https://www.socialknowledge.com/rv-traveltrailer/

Marine - https://www.socialknowledge.com/assorted/

Various - https://www.socialknowledge.com/marine/

They're doing quite well without any need for donations. But I do see some forums I'm interested in so I'm off to send them some more ad revenue!

Try clearing your browser history as many of your ads stem from those cookies.

X2, I use the app on my android phone and iPad. No adds, easy to use. I never use web browser because of the horrible ads taking up all the space.

I'm not computer literate and I don't seem to be able to do a screenshot.
The giant ad is on every thread I open, always below the third or fourth post on the thread. This just started a few days ago.
This morning it started with a flea and tick advertisement, just like on tv, then went to an eBay ad showing someone in a car/boat, just like on tv. Then it went to a "camper report" which had "advertisement" at the top.
Scrolling down in the thread results in a small pop-up screen in the lower right hand corner of my screen, showing the "camper report" starring two guys who clearly should get into a serious exercise regimen. Maybe buy a couple of the expensive workout machines that have a built-in tv with an instructor.
I delete my history at least daily. I also have an ad blocker (which does not work on this forum).
I'll keep trying to figure out how to do a screenshot.
Luckily, the top of my head was still intact when I woke up this morning, gray hair and all.
I like this forum. The information provided by it's members is invaluable but this forum has more ads than any other forum I've been on, past or present.

The simplest way is to literally hit the print screen button on your keyboard. Then open up the paint program and paste the image in. Then you can resize and save it.

Here are a few others:

Of course this is all assuming you are using a windows computer.

All this has got to be on your end. I'm not seeing any of what you mentioned. I have several ads, but they're all RV/Camping related.

OK, but what web browser are you using, (ie Firefox, Chrome, Edge, etc)

I'm using Google Chrome and I don't see the huge ad. Perhaps you've picked up some Malware? Every so often I go to TrendMicro (not a scam) and do a free computer check for viruses, malware, etc. https://www.trendmicro.com/en_us/for...housecall.html

Changing my results..... I got the giant ads tonight on my computer.
Then I figured out that I wasn't signed into the forum.
Signed in and the giant ads disappeared.

You could try an adblocker extension to your browser or even a browser that emphasises privacy such as Firefox or DuckDuckGo

I am getting a lot of ads, just like 18LT is saying. I then read what Reverse snowbird wrote. I signed into the forum and the ads disappeared! Problem solved.
