Heading out to FT Wilderness tomorrow 8/11 8/14
Last trip before the kids go back to school. Our first trip there in our new camper.
Anyone going to be there?

We went last Fall. It was our first time there at Disney and at FT Wilderness. We were on the 1000 loop and were happy with it. Over all we were impressed with the campground and look forward to doing it again.

Enjoy...only be there in spirit!

We're scheduled for October, unless work gets in our way

We were there last August. It was hot but our old tt kept up well. The pool was a welcome relaxation for us. We were in the 1300 loop, good sized sites but tight road for backing in. Have fun.

I was on the 900 loop in 2010, very nice site but agree that it's a bit tight backing in. Once in it was great.

I'd love to go back one year.

How far ahead of time does it take to get reservations at FW? I know it must depend on time of year but what are some experiences you have all had.

Holidays and spring break are really busy. Oct and Dec tend to be tough months from what I have read. Fort fiends are your source for everything ft wilderness. We booked Aug in Jan of that year. Learned you had to book Cinderella castle for breakfast around 180 days out so we did that but forgot to book the bibbidi bobbity salon in advance, couldn't get in but that worked out cause I did dd's hair myself and bought a great handmade dress off eBay for less than I would have spent there. My avatar is from the day we had breakfast with Cinderella.

The sooner you can nail down a date the better, especially around holidays. You can book up to 499 days out (from your departure date) if you call them. We have our October 2015 reservations already

I don't know, I called Disney on June 21 for an overnight on June 22. It must be easy like that all the time. (end tongue in cheek comments)

The above input is good. We're booking a Disney trip for February and my has had her 180 day calculator set to tell her when she can start making advanced reservations. She wants to do the "Be Our Guest" dinner at the new part of Magic Kingdom.

If you can and are willing to deal with taking the kids out of school- the more you can target the off-season, the better your experience will be. Well, maybe not "better"- just "different in a good way". That said, we did Christmas in 2012 and the wife loved it. I don't think I could do it again, but I'm sure she would gladly go back.

We have camped there a lot and there are tough weekends to get around major Holidays but usually not too bad we just got back yesterday and only booked a couple weeks ago.

Ft Wilderness

Heading there tomorrow until Thurs. Shakedown trip for my new Forester, only 40 minutes from home. We bought a couple of yearly residents passes for $230.00 apiece, good all year except holidays and weekends

Are the passes park tickets? Or some kind of Fort discount??

Wow, that's great. Right now Florida residents can purchase 3-day park passes for $139.00, plus tax, to be used through June. The deal you got is better!

Have fun, and please give updates about your shakedown experience!

We are at the Fort for 4 glorious nights near end of Feb. Camped there in a tent 28 some years ago. This will be different. Can't wait.
Ependydad, what part of Feb are you going?
