How do I contain myself?

We are leaving in about two weeks for our first "big trip." Meaning our first trip with multiple destinations and weeks of travel. Prior to this, the furthest we have gone is to Disney World about 7 hours from home and we stayed in one location. This time we are doing about 7-8 weeks and will end up on the west coast.

My question is: how do I contain myself in the meantime? I am "chomping at the bit" ready to go.

Just leave early. That's the nice part about long trips and fulltiming. Unless you have a real reason to stay, JUST GO!

I would love to leave earlier but my husband is contracted on this job through our leave date.

that's usually what I do. My husband say that I become very destructive if I'm not occupied.

This would be a good idea and it really needs a bath. We are not allowed to wash it though here in the rv park. I already broke the rules by washing the roof and got in trouble.

Why waste the money? Walking is cheaper, just tell him where you're going or better yet, just call him when you get there.

Then you have the answer, start washing the trailer and get kicked out!

You can always start organizing, buying those last minute things, plan your route, put a menu together or even prepare some of your food ahead of time and freeze.

Oh, and find another RV Park that allows you to wash your vehicles and RV.

Use a waterless wash/wax product. I did my TT at the campground in a day and never used a drop of water. Worked great!

I get busy with the mapping software, planning out gas stops/dog walking stops. Then I get on Google Street View to make sure everything looks good and practice "driving" the major interchanges that I'm not familiar with. I even call to make sure gas stations are still there if the image date isn't particularly current. One Google Street View tip: if your computer is anything like mine, Street View will heat up the video board something evil, so put an ice pack under a baking rack to set your laptop on (or just put an ice pack on your hard drive, if you're using a desktop, somewhere in the vicinity of your video board). Also, scrolling with your mouse wheel flies you through quicker than clicking on the line. Have a safe and wonderful journey!

Some of those silly research people with nothing better to do once did one of those zillions of studies you hear about, and it showed that the most exciting time of any vacation is the anticipation, and it peaks at about five days before leaving! So I suggest you sit back and enjoy this time while you read up on your destinations, etc. Sounds like a whole lot of fun. Best of everything on your journey! It'll be totally awesome!

take it to a blue beacon truck wash, bring it back to wax it. Then spend time reorganizing the trailer and buying everything you thought you'd never need. Then start obsessing over the travel plans is routes, stops, meal plans, budget etc.... Finally spend lots of time on the forums with like minded people.
