I agree. I'll be 68 next month and am still fairly active/agile (maybe not agile)/capable. I did, however, get tired of taking my TT hitch head out of the tractor shed and sticking it in the truck receiver and cheating the weight distribution equalizer bars into place so we put a plan into operation to move to a 5th wheel for ease of hook-up and towing... and we love it.

We plan on camping until the Lord above says 'no more'.

I'm 67 and retiring October 1. Had both hips replaced and lower back fused. I'll keep on camping as long as I can hook up my sewer hose! Just sold the Class A and plan to replace it with a XLR 300X12 and Silverado 2500 Diesel. Just being able to follow the warm weather means a lot.

A lot depends on your health (cognitive and physical) and weight. If you have an active lifestyle, good balance, good eyes, and good hearing - soldier on! Keep walking, biking, some weight lifting, kayaking, canoeing, hiking. Exercise with others. Eat right.

Sounds what everyone's doctor has told them.

We are both 80 left home Nov 27th - spent the winter in AZ in our "Little One". Will start home two weeks from today.

70 this year, keeps me going. 1,000 miles from home now dodging that winter weather, hurts my bones. Two back surgeries and Neuropathy so now I carry an electric wheelchair with me. Last week drove the wheelchair through several parks in the Everglades and Miami Zoo. Wife and I are a team and talk more now but gettn'er done. About 30 minutes usually setting up 36 ft Cedar Creek 5r or pulling out. I do 98% of driving and she does 98% of cooking.

Almost 71 and camped 120 days last year with a move every few days. I have to use a cushion to kneel on, but other than that, I feel like I am 18, except when I look in the mirror and wonder who that old F**t is, looking back at me. One is only as old as he feels. I don't plan on slowing down for a long time.

Hey, I'm 68 and still going, cross country etc. (Not retired yet but thinking about doing it in September). I have a class 'A' but hook up a TOAD and unhook same. MH still has to be cabled and hosed up etc so it's about the same 5th'ing or TT'ing...I just do it in reverse. Your health and how active you stay is the only thing that will govern you. Check, in my camping adventures I have met mid 70's and early 80's men that are doing it all...
just a little slower but still enjoying the life. One guy (mid 70's) jog/walks 2 miles a day, I don't even do that. I walk around a lot.

OC WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU SHOULDNT BE DOING IT,? I'm 75 and just getting started. Had our 320RS since Oct. and headed to AK this summer for a trip of a life time.

Age Is a frame of mind, at one point I'm sure we won't be able to go like we do now, but there are some a lot younger that can't now. Stop thinking about it and live for today. I need to listen to my own advice I can retire in 57 days and I turn 54 2 weeks after. I have been back and forth over this and am having problems accepting retirement. I've had a job since I was 13 and steady since 16 and the thought of not getting up and going every day kind of scares me. Guess I will have to try it and if I really don't like it get another job.

I am 54 DW is older by a few years. I have a plan for early retirement in 10 years at 64. Many around me have passed at way to early an age. We are going to max out enjoyment while we can, get 6 weeks a year off and look forward to every weekend away as well.
Cheers to all that enjoy travelling and RV'ing. Sure beats a hotel room from my perspective!

I just hit 64. I worry more about having to wrestle the kids I coach in high school than traveling in our fifth wheel.

Having said that, though, I did go to a gooseneck hitch (built into the F-350 I now have) so I don't have to struggle with removing a heavy piece of iron so I can load dirt or rock to use around the property. Also, my next fifth wheel will have an automatic reel to haul in the 50 foot, 50 amp electrical cord.

If you stay active, even if it's just walking a few miles three times a week, watch what you eat (including portion control), and do some daily stretching you should be just fine. I took up yoga, much to the chagrin of my wrestlers, but it truly does help your flexibility.

Strength, flexibility and endurance.

At 77 and 76 respectively my wife and I have been camping and hiking for years and we are still at it. Have we slowed down since we were 65? Yes a little but it is all relative. Stay in shape by walking and keep on hiking, Enjoy other peoples company , smile and laugh a lot, eat well... lots of veggies, plan new adventures one or two years in advance, stay away from nay sayers and keep on "truckin" We figure that we are good for another 15 years or so because there are lots of places to see, people to meet and things to do.

What many of these old folks said, health and attitude. We bought a fiver last December, can't wait till spring. But then I just had my 7th spinal surgery so need to heal a bit more before we take off anyway. Still going strong [in spite of the back] at 64 and look forward to 'setting up' camp.

We're really excited and have been getting the 5er ready. Have a list of about 100 little projects that are done and are still working at it. Hope that you get the chance. We're using Alaskan discovery RV tours. They have medical and tail gunner follow up so we feel pretty easy about going.

the life I lived the past 40 yrs is really catching up to me lately....had both shoulders totally reconstructed last year... (went camping 3 time in between including a 3 weeker to Yellowstone, hiking, and all!!!)....

have to say that as much prep and work as it is to go on a LONG trip like that as well as the setup and maintenance there after has me wondering if I will still be able, LET ALONE have the mental fortitude to continue to go through it...I will retire (or give up as my wife says) in the next 10-12 years.....but I see it as a changing of work duties rather than a loss of work???

My dad passed away when he was 66. I retired at 59 so we could get some "playing time" in, just in case. I'm now 65, almost 66, feel good and hope for another ten good years...maybe more.

I'm 59 and just retired. My wife and I are in the process of buying our first RV (fifth wheel). We're really excited to start RV'ing and hope to be able to do it for a good 15 years.

I'm 69 and DW is 65. I would be full time on the road if I could get DW away from her desk, but owning her own company just won't turn her lose. The discussion has come up about me going it alone, but to me, that isn't what RVing is all about. We have three trips planned between now and June 1. After that is a guess.
