So how did you like camping on a parking lot? At least your close to the beach. It was packed when we drove through last week.

We also stayed at Piney Grove COE at a waterfront site. We were traveling on the Trace. We went to a hoot of a restaurant called the Rattlesnake Saloon. It will be quite an experience trust me on this! Drove by the Coonhound Cemetery, but didn’t stop due to horrible rainstorm. We also stopped at the Helen Keller Birthplace and met up with Steven Tyler from Aerosmith and his group who also took the tour with us. After we got into the car, what song came on the xm radio was Dream On. My husband and I had a good laugh over that.

Fishermen’s Memorial State Park in Narragansett, Rhode Island

We got lucky and found a spot last weekend on a whim last minute. Someone must have just cancelled because it has been booked solid. We stayed in a section we had not stayed in before and were pleasantly surprised by how secluded our site was compared some of the ones that are closer to the water.

Moose Hilock

We spent a week at the Fort Ann NY Moose Hilock. We have been to the NH location and loved it so we had to try the one near lake george. It did not disappoint. The sites were large and private. The pool was great and there was lots to do in the area while still being social distant.

Yogi bear Gardnier NY

we stopped at Yogi in Gardnier NY on the way home. It was similar to other Yogis we have been to. Lots to do for kids and expensive lol. They were trying to keep the pool area to a limited number of people but still a little to much. We went early in the morning and it wasn't bad. Make sure you check out Minnewaska state park as it is beautiful. It is the ridge line u can see from the campground. Nice easy hikes that are well worth it.

Decided to do a week of "getting away from it all" and left Houston heading up Arkansas way.

Spending our first two nights on Lake De Queen at one of the three CoE parks (we are at Pine Ridge).
Interesting mix of campsites and people. The little loop we are on is only about 1/3rd full. Further down the camp road it's packed. Mostly with people with boats.

Morning seems to be mostly fisherman on the lake, but Saturday afternoon was filled with people partying on pontoon boats and a few fast boats towing people on rafts and tubes. A little loud.

Bugs not bad at all. Lots of little birds (warblers, etc) .

Been here almost 20 hours and have not seen a park host or ranger or anything yet. Have a feeling rule enforcement is not a high priority right now (last night we watched a group of party people that had trailered their pontoon, back it into an empty campsite and then sleep on the boat - they were gone this morning. Hopefully they were wisely sleeping off the lake alcohol) Click image for larger version

Nice site. We have never been able to get into Henderson Beach. We've been to Topsail and Grayton Beach. Be safe.
