Last night we boondocked just north of the Beartooth Pass in Montana. One of the best spots I've stayed. Definitely the best place I've stayed in an RV.

I left Buffalo Crossing RV Park in West Yellowstone this morning a day early. The RV park was fine, but we're just not an RV park kind of family.

We're now just outside Grand Teton National Park in a national forest boondocking with a great view of the Tetons, no neighbors, and a heard of antelope right out front of our camper.

Out on a fall leaf peeping trip to Ohio State Parks. Nothing better than camping with the Grands and carving pumpkins!

Barkcamp, Muskingum River and Blue Rock State Parks.

After spending a couple of nights boondocking in the Grand Tetons, we decided to head back to Montana to the same boondocking spot we loved so much last week by the Beartooth Pass, and we spent the last two nights there again.

This morning we woke up to some snow

We're in an RV park in Dickinson, ND tonight. Not very interesting, but after four nights boondocking, my wife and daughters were happy to have full hookups for the night.

Very nice. This has been on my list. How was the drive into the campground? How was the campground?

How did you find your boondocking spots? Especially the one near Beartooth Pass in Montana. We’ll be there and Yellowstone next year and would love to try some of your boondocking spots.
Thanks!

I use https://freecampsites.net

It's a great site with tons of free boondocking sites all over North America. It's not as helpful on the east coast, just due to a general lack of great boondocking spots, but out west there are tons of spots listed, with reviews and pictures of most places.

Here are the coordinates of some of the good spots we stayed:

Badlands: 43.905206,-102.229177 - Tons of great spots all along the roads here. You can't go wrong here.

Black Hills: 43.865346,-103.757560 - Excellent views from near the top of the mountain, but VERY windy here. Only a few sites available.

Red Lodge, MT (Beartooth): 45.030284,-109.434620 - Incredible camping; easily our favorite of the trip and some of my favorite camping lifetime, including backpacking, motorcycle camping, etc. There are tons of marked free sites, a few national forest campgrounds, and some unmarked sites. Truly amazing spots. We will absolutely be back here.

Grand Tetons (Bridger-Teton National Forest): 43.774959,-110.503262: There were probably about a dozen sites available, but if you have a big rig, I wouldn't go much further past my marked coordinates, as the road eventually gets rough and narrow without many turnarounds available. Our site (the listed coordinates) easily had the best view of all of them on this road. If it's available, go ahead and snag it. The site itself was okay, but the view of the Tetons was incredible.

And when you go to Yellowstone, don't skip out on the Grand Tetons. We liked that park probably more than Yellowstone, although there aren't as many things to do. And Jackson, WY is a really fun town. Unfortunately because of Covid, we didn't really get to enjoy it, but next time we go back, we'll be spending a couple days just in Jackson.

First music festival in awhile... Blues bash was covid cancelled in March just days before it was scheduled so we made up for that with Camping with the Blues at the Sertoma Youth Ranch in Brooksville, FL last weekend.

Little odd to not be inviting everyone over to join us for food & beverages with us keeping a relatively closed group but feel pretty successful with well run pot luck dinners & days of beer tasting supported by fantastic blues. Did not set our chairs up in the pavilion this year, just shooting thru for pictures of the performers and our group had a site that we could watch the stage albeit from a bit of distance. Looking forward to more social distancing camping soon!

Love that area!! Have you ever stayed at Cascade Lake? It permanently closed a few years back. Davidson doesn’t have full hookups, so that’s a bummer for us.

We haven't stayed at Cascade Lake. We rarely get a spot with full hookups, or even electricity. Most of our camping is long weekend trips - until I'm retired!

My first trip with my E-Pro 14FK was to Salisbury Beach State Reservation (Salisbury, MA) and of course a nasty thunderstorm blew through while I was trying to back into my campsite. It turned into a nice trip out though!
