Deception Pass State Park Washington
Made it to the west coast Friday! Staying until Monday at Deception Pass. Beautiful place!
Hiked the trail from the campsite to the bridge over the pass and on to the beach. Also took the ferry to Orcas Island and had fantastic views from the top of the mountain on the island. Our daughter in Seattle joined us for the weekend.
3,800 miles on the truck since leaving home May 3rd, and 3,600 on the Wolf Pup. Living the dream!

Spent a week with our fishing friends at Sebastian Inlet State Park, FL. We were on site 14, they had site 30 rigth across the street from us. Our friend found a 30+ yr old truck camper on his hunt camp and spent COVID renovating it so he could tow his boat (lights & AC & heat all worked when he found it!).
Quick bike ride down to the inlet jetty for great sunrise pictures; sunset was right on our site and fantastic view over the water. Out on that boat Rosie landed a shark; we did catch enough snapper & sheepshead for a few meals. Third picture is our camper from the boat out in the inlet.
Notorious for biting bugs I have discovered the Bug Bite Thing- all I will say is GET IT!!!! Never had such an itch free camping trip as this one!

Nehalem Bay state park Oregon
Arrived at Nehalem Bay state park this evening in the rain. Walked down to the beach with rain jackets on, but it was too cool and windy to explore much in the rain. The great scenery is largely obscured by the rain and fog.
This is a really nice campground, and the scenery is beautiful, but I’m afraid we’re not going to be able to fully enjoy it, as it’s a one night stop before we continue a bit further south on the Pacific Coast highway tomorrow before turning back east.
Hopefully we’ll get to view it better in the morning before leaving.
There are a lot of campers here, motor homes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, vans and tents, but still plenty of vacant sites.

Busy Memorial Day Weekend
We are enjoying Memorial Day weekend at Cross Creek RV Resort near Colimbus Ohio. This is one of our favorite parks but it is FULL this weekend. Still fun with lots of planned activities and Alum Creek State Park next door.

Cove Recreation area BLM
Made it into southern Idaho Thursday afternoon. Decided to stay at Cove recreation area for 3 nights as campgrounds were filling up for the holiday weekend. Glad we did, as there weren’t many vacant sites due to people holding sites for their friends coming the next day.
This was a beautiful oasis in the desert. Really enjoyed our stay. $6 per night.
Heading for Utah today.

The Wedge Overlook Utah
Left Idaho yesterday and made it into Utah. Tried to get into a USFS dispersed camping site outside Brigham City, but it was packed full. Ended up having to spend the night at Weber Canyon rest area on I-84.
Made it today to the Wedge Overlook, aka The Little Grand Canyon, near Castle Dale. This has been on my list of must see places, so we’re going to stick around for a couple of days. Beautiful scenery! There’s only a couple of other campers here, but we met plenty leaving today. The road in is a 20 mile long dirt road that’s smooth and dust free, probably 40 feet wide. Better than a lot of interstate we’ve been on.
Great free BLM camping!

Davidson River Campground near Brevard, NC Memorial weekend
Beautiful weekend - temperatures in the 70s. Great place for hiking and fishing. Campground was not full - we were surprised.

We just got back from a New England RV trip, our first real vacation in over six months.
We stayed outside of Acadia National Park at a full hook-up RV park for a few nights. Not my cup of tea, but the wife was happy, and I couldn't argue with the ocean-front views of Mount Desert Isle.
Next we headed to Moose Brook State Park by Mt. Washington, NH. This was a no-frills dry camping campground, but each site was very secluded and wooded. Definitely more my style of camping.
From there we spent the last two nights in the Adirondacks. Google unexpectedly routed us to include a ferry crossing over Lake Champlain. When we got there, we were informed that they were just getting ready to leave, and that it was the last ferry ride of the evening. Thankfully they waited for us to pay and loaded us up. The kids got a big kick out of riding on the ferry.
We stayed at Taylor Pond State Park campground in the Adirondacks. What a dump! When we arrived, the check-in booth was boarded up and spray painted, there were broken down vehicles parked along the entrance, and it was very unkempt throughout. There were, of course, no hook-ups, which I was fine with. Most of the sites were crammed next to each other in a field. We fortunately booked one in the woods on a loop away from the others and fairly secluded (and tight as hell to back into). As it turns out, this was a party campground, and everyone was up all night drinking and making merry. Lol. To top it off, there was no cell reception. I considered this a plus, my wife disagreed. Either way, we don't plan on coming back to Taylor Pond Campground.
