Hersheypark Camping Resort on the hottest weekend of the year, so far
I will say, it's the first time we have ever camped and had the weather be somewhat cooperative. It's usually either rainy, cold, or both.

Cava Robles

Our second trip to Cava Robles RV Resort in Paso Robles CA. A newer park with great sites, amenities and views. For your camperless friends, they have several sizes of small cabins for rent. Property has many old growth oaks with new plantings of shrubs and trees. Since it was built on a hillside, virtually all sites have views of oak covered foothills or wine vineyards. Pretty light on campers this week, but management said the weekends are pretty full.

If you haven’t been to Flying Flags in Avila Beach, it would give you an escape from the heat of the valley. It’s a new resort but I haven’t been there yet.

I grew up in that place. I absolutely love it and compare all other campgrounds to it.

Sadly, I've never gotten to take any of my RVs there being 40' and all.

Fancy Gap Virginia KOA site 66

First morning here, we have enjoyed it so far. Site is pretty level and is partly shaded. This is a very nice & well kept campground, it looks like they keep up with renovations and replacing old faded stuff.

They do have allot of amenities for young & old along with small take out/delivery for food. The owner smokes pork and beef on site which is on the menu we have not tried yet, we are going to the pizza tonight.

I do not recall the person that posted last year with this campground but thank you this is how we found out about it. We were on our way here last year and tire one camper had other ideas when the tread separated and did some significant damage that prevented us from continuing. Yes it was a China bomb on it’s 2nd year.

It is very close to the Blues Ridge Parkway and Mt Airy NC (Mayberry)

Overall we are very pleased with this KOA

Now for a couple of pictures

Our site from last weekend. About 15 minutes from home, which was handy as I worked all weekend.

We can do day visits to Presqu’ile Provincial Park for free because we have a season’s pass, and it’s just 15 minutes door to door. BTW….I’m still driving on last November’s gas, so I guess you’d consider we’re getting pretty good mileage.

If we got any closer to Lake Ontario, my feet would get wet exiting the RV and it’s still too cold for this ‘ol boy yet.

Well THAT certainly brought back a flood of memories...... Been sober a a church mouse for over 20 years, but must have consumed enough PBR in my youth to float a battleship. Hence the reason sober now! LOL I immediately thought of Johnny Russell's song the instant I saw the PBR can.

Camping at Walnut Woods State Park, Iowa. Backed up to the woods with one of my preferred local brews. Small campground with fewer than 30 sites, some full hook-up and less than $30 a night.Click image for larger version
