Clear Springs Recreation Area

Friday and Saturday at Clear Springs Recreation Area near Roxie, MS. First come, first served, no reservations. We got the last spot long enough to back the trailer into.
Nice spot in the Homochitto National Forest. Heavily wooded, sites spaced a good distance apart.
$13/night.

North Toledo Bend State Park

Last night, North Toledo Bend State Park, near Zwolle, LA. Overnight stop.
Really nice, pretty new looking place. And one of the cheapest we’ve been to, at $15 for the night.

Midway Park, TX

Staying 2 nights at Midway Park COE campground at Waco.
Nice campground, too close to the highway. Lots of traffic noise, that I normally wouldn’t pay attention to, but it’s constant. Didn’t bother us while sleeping, but is pretty overbearing during the day.
We are on the front side of the campground nearest the road. Probably quieter on the back side.
Still a nice place. A good spot to relax for a couple of nights before continuing west.
When I reserved the site, the night before we came, I didn’t realize it was full hookup, so I don’t have to go to the dump station when we leave.
Cost $16/night with the senior pass.

Come to Airport Park on the other side of the lake. Then you can hear/see ICE planes and jets overhead.

I considered that one when I made this reservation. Not being familiar with either one, other than your pictures, I looked at a few reviews, and one had references to aircraft noise, the other, traffic noise.
So I just picked one. I’m sure this place is quieter on the back side, as it’s down the hill, out of sight of the road, and has more trees around.
I made a reservation last night for Lakeside Park COE at Coleman for tomorrow night.
Happy camping to you. We’re having a blast!

This is a really nice State Park.
I was surprised at how many people are here, since it’s cold. Going to be 26 tonight.
This is just an overnight stop on our way South, heading out West.
I was there in late April two years ago and I agree it's a nice park. Must be the park that's cold. It was still close to freezing then.

Was forecast to be 26* overnight. Actually got down to 21.
Was hoping to dewinterize there, but had to wait until Alabama. Then that turned into a fiasco.
Made plumbing repairs in Mississippi.

Lakeside campground

Made it to Lakeside COE campground near Coleman TX.
Beautiful place! 85 degrees and windy. Can finally open the windows and take off our shoes!
$13/night with the pass.
We’ve been taking US84 West, staying off interstates as much as possible. So much more scenic.
I don’t know what wildflowers are doing in the desert yet, but they’re prolific along the roadways and fields in Texas!

Coleman RV Park

Currently at Coleman City RV Park in Brownfield Texas. Not exactly what I call a campsite, and not what I call a campground, but it’s a good overnight spot.
City owned, water, electric (20 and 30 amp), and dump station. The electric service appears to be in excellent condition, and the water connections look new.
It’s located in a large city park, that looks well maintained.
The best part is that it’s free! They have a donation box at the dump station. I’ll chip in a donation on the way out.
Definitely oil country out this way!

Datil Well BLM

Datil Well BLM campground in New Mexico.
We managed to get one of the 3 sites with electric hookups. The other 19 have none. There is no water or dump station, but we have a full fresh tank and empty waste tanks.
Staying 2 nights for $2.50/night.

We stayed there once in 2014 on our way to Ruidoso, NM. An old codger in a class A switched off our power 3 times - couldn't get his power to work and threw all the old-fashioned pull handle power boxes handles on the power pole hoping he could get his power to work. That certainly didn't help him and made the pig (me) mad.

Apache-Sitgreaves NF AZ

Dispersed camping tonight on a Forest Service road near Heber, AZ.
Went by a couple of nice FS campgrounds that were closed. This was unplanned and just something we found along the way.
Nice spot, although the road in was pretty rough.
Forecast to be 23 tonight, but that’s been pretty typical lately.

Wickenburg Dispersed Camping

Arrived today at Wickenburg AZ. Was 19 degrees when we left Heber this morning. 74 when we arrived here. Found a nice dispersed camping spot to stay for a couple of days.
The wildflowers are beautiful here, hope to get some good pictures tomorrow.

Next night was in Weatherford, OK. We stayed at Wanderlust RV Park which was very nice. Clear and cold at night.

Now we are in Edgewood, NM just east of Albuquerque. We are in a little RV Park that is full of permanent sites and is a little trashy. Our site is a long, level, pull through. It is all gravel here. The KOA in Albuquerque wanted $110.00 for one night!!! We paid $62.00 here. Weather is clear but very cold. It was 16 when we got up, and there is some snow on the ground.

We saw this beauty in Amarillo.

We finally arrived on Heber, AZ to find it very cold. Campground was okay, but only stayed 2 nights. There were no wildflowers in the area.

A little disaster the next day as ran over some debris on the highway and tore off the landing foot from the front right stabilizer, which then ran back and punctured the front right tire of the toad.

So back in to Albuquerque to a Discount Tire Store to replace the ruined tire, which was covered by their road hazard warranty.

We spent that night about 30 miles east of Albuquerque. It was cloudy and cold. We got up the next morning about 8:00 and I walked the dog. It was very cold but partly sunny. No problem. Went back into the RV to drink coffee and have some breakfast. All the while we had all the curtains pulled down as it was so cold. About an hour later it was time to go. I removed the front privacy curtain and WHAT?

Thank you. When we decided to get a Class C after our fifth wheels, I said to the wife, that of almost all Class C units on the road, 90% are white with perhaps a little stripe of color. I said we want one that stands out and is pretty. So, this is it.
