Dames Ferry SP, GA. Site #35. Just north of Macon on Lake Juliette.
Whistle Stop Cafe is 7 miles away (think Fried Green Tomatoes).
Lots of pull thru sites, 50 amp, many on the water. Near Juliette, GA.
We will be Hosting here next year (1 Jan - 30 Apr 25).

Stayed at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park just down the road two winters ago. Nice walks around the old buildings and easy trails.
They even have a small train I think you can ride for a dollar.

Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah GA

Skidaway Island State Park near Savannah GA site #20 (& 21 for our friends) was a nice park, plenty of sites, not much to do in the campground (claim to fame is the fossilized giant sloth found there) but very close to Savannah & TONS to do there. Need a screen room, fan, bug spray & lots of thermacell pads as biting bugs were worst we have encountered. Overall a very nice starting place for the final run with our 2013 Microlite

Savannah was great - Went to the Ships of the sea Maritime museum, the Prohibition museum with its own speakeasy, The Mercer museum (read Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil first), Leopold's (making ice cream since 1919), the Wilkes house (best southern food served family style) and quite a few old historic cemeteries to name just a few things over the week. Cannot wait to go back!

Crooked River State Park, St Mary's GA

Crooked River State Park, St Mary's GA on site #12 was extremely relaxing and a great stop on the grand finally with our MicroLite. Cute miniature golf course in the campground for only $5 pp, nice bicycling (although trails are not well marked), a boat launch & cabins all on a receding bluff that they lose approx 10' / yr!!! Some sites with FHU. Good dump station & easy in & out. Beautiful sunsets over the river. Beware the ticks - dogs prevention worked great as we pulled off plenty of dead ones.
Would definitely go back

Crescent Fish Camp, Crescent City FL

Crescent Fish Camp, Crescent City FL site #6 was the final camping spot with our MicroLite. Needed a FHU so we could clean her out real good for the next owners . Tight site with drop offs on either side & back. Beautiful lake, huge pier & small clean pool - all the nicest employees. Made for a few great sunrises....

So sad right now emptying everything out of the Rolling Retreat but new Rockwood taking her place in the next week or two ....

Douglas Dam Headwaters CG, TN

Douglas Dam Headwaters CG, TN.
Nice COE campground on Douglas Lake near Smokie Mountain National Forest, Gatlinburg side. (we do not do Gatlinburg!).
Nice site, on the lake, but storm (micro burst) destroyed our awning last night. BTW: it was not forecasted! The "weather guessers" blew it again!

Sorry to hear that but being that you are a long time camper one should always take care to retract awning at nite unless you have a good tie down system which i had back when they talked a bout awning poles and using the claw hold downs. I never trusted weather forecasters. Great system. Hope you can get it repaired soon. Later RJD

Made the short drive (220 miles) to Claytor Lake State Park, VA. Here's Site #D-21. We will be here for three days. This is a good stopping point if you are traveling I-81 or US Rt 11.
