Anyway, I forgot to get a good pic. The site we were on was one of their recently upgraded sites (like opened 2 weeks ago), so it was a sandy mess. But, we were surrounded by Fulltime Families with a great field behind of us.

Yeah. We are about to endure "Florida Winter" again on Sunday where it'll be a high in the upper 50s for the day. It's a tough life.

Good eye, Gary. I sure did!

My wife doesn't get animated often when we're parking. But her instructions of "stop. Stop! STOP!" were well heard; I'm just a little slow.

Fortunately, I was able to pull back out without issue.

Hi,

Last year for this thread, I posted a picture of my rig beside a frozen lake, on the way to Gulf Shores from Northern Illinois.

This year, I'm settled in about five miles north of Quartzsite, in the Plomosa BLM area. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets seem to be the norm, along with much different weather.

Ok, sorta cheating here, but.... This technically is my campground.

Its our lots at the lake. The old KZ Sportsman in the back is sitting on my camper pad. Seeing how I have the cabin finished, I'll never bring the new camper down there, so we brought down Mikes (no_handle) father in laws camper. He had it at another location that was about 3 times as far from his house as our lake was. It sat unused for about 3 years as he never went down anymore. We cleaned it all up and got everything working again, hopefully it will get some use next year.

So next 3 threads from me are the past week on 3 separate sites. You may appreciate by the end that we are hoping that all the bad camping juju is over with for 2017 ...

Stop1: Collier Seminole State Park site 94 in Naples FL. Home of the entire population of mosquitoes for the winter (& we know how to battle those buggers really good). Kayaked out to marker 45 with someone not really aware of the tides so got a really good workout. Fish refused to bite. New bathhouse had to have septic truck visit twice daily, there was little hot water for a shower & the floor had been poured very badly so shower water remained in the center of the bathrooms on both sides. Had to use both AC & heat in just 4 night stay.

Stop 2: John Easterlin park in Broward county. Arrived in Ft Lauderdale as the shooting was happening making for a somber stay in the area. Our site was OK & the park was well kept but a lot of railroad, road & airplane noise that the park does let you know exists. We spent 2 days heading to the Funky Buddha brewery just down the road (the reason we camped there).

At midnight the night before we were to head home we woke to one inch of water in the trailer ... detached the local supply & dried everything out with the plan to deal with it when we got home (a note here....everyone check your interior water filters... they jiggle loose so we were Really lucky). That last shot is a pic of all the towels trying to dry.

Finally Stop 3 : Advantage Ford in Stuart FL ... if you live by this place give them your business...they were so nice with excellent mechanics & good coffee.
After a miserable phone runaround with our roadside assistance, Good Sam refused to get us off the turnpike (even though FHP had told them they could come get us). FHP got us off & parked us in the backlot of the Ford dealership next to a light pole with a 110 outlet & dumped the TV at the service bay at 4:45 on a Sunday night .... we were back on the road after parts were shipped in by 1 pm Monday.
Glad we live in hurricane country & can run on 2 gallons of water for 2 people & 2 dogs for 24 hours ....

Heh heh. Looks like you've got enough truck there that it wasn't a problem.

We rock climb at Stone Mountain, NC but haven't camped there yet. Glad to see they are open, so many others are not until Easter. Maybe that is just an ACE thing?

Canpground is awesome! Open year round....they have frost-proof hydrants at the sites. It gets pretty hectic during the warm months but winter is very quiet and peaceful!! Deer aren't afraid of anything...including 3 dogs out for morning walk @0630 in the morning!
