FYI for you youngsters a pager was an annoying black box that clipped to your belt and beeped until called back whoever activated it usually on a pay phone which is why you always carried a pocket full of change

What a nice read, I remember being on call with a pager and a cell phone only to get paged at a high school sporting event with one of the kids and having to leave to find a pay phone a few miles away. I learned when on call keep my butt at home. This was even before being able to dial in vs vpn to fix stuff, it was walk someone through it or drive in myself.

I work for a large healthcare organization now and we still have about 8,000 digital pagers to support across 12 transmitters

It was campsite 2041 and it was ok. Mostly private on the left side (where our camper opened out to), but pretty wide open on the right side. Neighbors in tent super close and very loud. Might go for one of the premium sites next time instead of tent sights. When it rained, there was standing water everywhere.

The coffee pic is spot on

We are in Glendale Springs NC this pic is a day before left over Willa the Mexico Hurricane came through and dumped cold rain for a day and a half, we did see some good fall colors though in the great smokies mountains, either way 3 nights camping with 2 of them in the rain is much better than being on call with a pager ahaha

Here is a view from site 48H Raccoon Hollar camp ground

Our last trip we were at PA Dutch a Thousand Trail Park in Manheim PA near Hershey in site F32. A Berkshire with FL plates had just pulled out of the same spot, we decided to take it ourselves. I hope they saw our Berkshire by the office as they headed out

Sadly not. We went to an Orchard when we got there on Saturday, dinner with friends on Sunday, I worked Monday, and we left Tuesday.

We hate staying places less than a week, but we were making a westward trek to get to Nashville tomorrow (actually got here a day early). Now we get to hang out with friends for 2 weeks!

Cox Camping, Great Cacapon, WV. This is a private campground about 20 minutes outside of Berkeley Springs. Large campsites with good separation from other campers. You'll encounter mountain driving and some narrow roads to reach this campground. It's worth it.

Dumplin Farms RV campground in Kodak, TN. It’s really just a farm/empty field on a hill. But the price was decent for 50amp/full hookups. They have about 8-10 pull-thru spots for a steady stream of transient overnight folks.

Ironically, I saw 2 other Fulltime Families passing through while we were there. Only got to talk to one of them.

We drove into Sevierville one afternoon and took pictures with Dolly Parton. We came away from the area with a whole huge list of things we wanted to do. I’m pretty sure we will be back next spring to send a week or two and actually have some sight-seeing time.

Stupid on their side photos. Sure wish Social Knowledge would fix that bug!

We had a great weekend at Deer Run in Crossville, TN. They had all sorts of Halloween stuff for the kiddos to do, and the trick or treating was fantastic!

We skipped a Harvest Host stay and headed to Dickson a day early to catch up with friends.

We ended up at a little park called Tanbark Campground for a night. It appeared to be mostly annuals, but they offered a Passport America rate of $17.50 for 30amp/full hookups in a pull-thru spot. The downside is that the pull-thrus were awfully cozy!

And the spots were misleadingly off-level from side to side. My friends needed a good 4” of leveling materials on the door side. We put blocks under our leveling system and it lifted everything just fine- we tried without since it was just 1 night but the system errored with “out of stroke” on one of the legs.

Bathrooms were basic but fine, even had a dishes washing sink in there.

Doug,

We just spent two weeks in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg.
It was our 6th visit. Always something new to see/do.

If you haven't spent time there, go back.
Parts of it can be a little busy/touristy but there are lots of cool things to do.
Too many to mention actually.
