Thumbs up Route 66

Anyone out there traveled the famed Route 66 from start to finish.
Any opinions as to whether it was worth to trip, being so much of it
is gone now.
If so, any recommendation as to the best parts of the road, & best places to stop & visit.
Any really great RV parks along the way?

when you come through Amarillo, stop and visit the Fort Amarillo RV Park. these folks are great! nice park, ponds and ducks, small arcade, pool, hot tub, quiet, pet friendly, it don't get much better than this. located on west end of Amarillo behind Gander Mountain. then go see the Cadillac ranch, palo duro canyon, canyon museum, quarterhorse museum, and try the BBQ. oh yeah, everything's bigger in Texas!
