Some are better than others. I look for private sites with enough room for my fifth wheel, truck, and whatever else we have along. Generally, the outside of the 800 loop is a pretty safe shot. The interior sites can be tricky.

I'd love to get site 829 again (the one we were on when I met you!):

This was another good one - 1326. Super deep, I could park the truck and fifth wheel in line with each other. Nice and wide and on a curve for easy parking. Still no one behind us.

Plus, that trip, we were there for Halloween and that's just a good time!

My wife and I have been attending the Historic Race Car Weekend at Laguna Seca Raceway near Monterey, CA for more than 30 years. We try to reserve Site #54 every year, and so far so good. The campsites right at the race track are in such demand, there is a waiting list for sites that are not renewed each year.

The event is legendary and includes two full weekends of vintage car racing, plus Concours events and Car Auctions the entire week leading up to the main event.

The best part of the week is the fact that we have a group of more than a dozen "car-nut" friends who attend with us every year. We enjoy the best food on the entire Monterey Peninsula each night when we do our Pot-Luck Dinners!!

Was there last year. Awful expensive. Too windy! Two awnings and one slide topper were lost by fellow campers in the two days we were there. If all you want to do is watch the ocean and walk on the beach, I guess it's good. Nothing else really to do. There's a seafood shack about 8 miles north on HWY 101, but that's it.

After two days at Sea Perch we headed north up 101 to Ft Stevens State Park, but had to spend almost two hours at a car wash in Astoria cleaning the salt spray off of the TV & TT.

McKinney COE Campground, Lake Allatoona, Acworth, Georgia....
50amp power, water... you're practically by yourself...

and, for sure.... PULL STRAIGHT IN, for the views! (if you have a motorhome!)

https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campsites/56960

good luck getting a reservation for it!

Yes, wind. It broke our flag pole. We did manage to fly kites before
12/1:00, but then the wind got too strong. It is pretty and a very big beach for walks. Nice seafood places in Yachats about 10 miles north.
Wind and all it is much better than 90+ degrees and 90+ humidity here in the south.

Any of the sites at Alder Acres RV Park near Coos Bay, OR, are better than the windy places on the coast.

A couple of crown land sites in the bush at the top at Big Horn Dam. 45 minutes west of Nordegg, Alberta on the south side of the David Thompson Hwy.

Our favorite camping site is every year at Airventure in OshKosh, WI in the middle of a field at the Wittman Airport.

For many years it was like this:

Our favorite is C35 at the Poplar Point Campground at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area between Apex and Pittsboro NC along US 64 west of Raleigh. It's a waterfront campsite on a small cove on the eastern shore of the lake. Magnificent sunsets across the lake. And our kayaks are right there at the campsite.
Very convenient for us. We live just over an hour away. So when we go there for a 2-week stay, I come home every 3rd day to make sure the critters we left behind (dogs, cats, birds) don't run out of food or water.

I've been lucky to be able to work from home on and off. The first trip down from Maryland went from 7-9 nights at Bluewater Key to 18 nights total. A large chunk of it was during my daughter's winter break, so she didn't miss much school.

In fact, it was that trip that made us decide to go fulltime.

Wait a minute. This isn't a campsite. Its a place to park your camper while you stay at some tropical beach outdoor hotel.
