What’s in your basement?

I can tell you, I’m an over-packer, preparer, and project scrap hoarder. Today we did some spring cleaning and purging of the basement stuff and started by pulling everything out.

Thought I’d make a video of the insanity that is my basement hatch.

You should have had a scale handy to weigh it all as you took it out

It tried really hard to part with the super heavy wooden shelf but just couldn’t bear it! I ended up putting it back in.

I had to laugh when I literally discovered the cast iron griddle. I used to LOVE that thing when we camped and I would cook on it over a fire.

I swear I carry a ton of crap (well, have measured- it’s about 2 ton!). It always feels like I’m digging and I am the only one who can really put that hatch away.

Like many campers, half the tools in my basement are there in case I have the opportunity to help a fellow camper.

My wife might say that you and I are related!

I have been wondering what everyone carries in there.

You really made me feel really good about what I have ... got a good chuckle out of that video. I can't believe you can actually pack that stuff.

If you toss that pine cone I think you'd be able to add some more stuff.

LOL, my wife convinced/told my son he had to throw it away. I was shocked when I saw it discarded that afternoon! I wouldn’t have guessed he would have let it go.

We made a few trips to the dumpster and a trip to the local donation center.

If I would let my wife she would pack our hole house in ours. But it comes down to just normal hook up lines, chairs, ezup, fishing poles and tackle box as well as hitch and weight distribution bars when not in use.

A polterguiest!

Actually, my basement (and whole inside of 5'ver) is almost completely empty on this trip as I am on my way to a camping rally in Pueblo, Colorado, then after that I'm headed up to Denver to clear out my storage unit as I just recently (last week) bought a new residence in southwest Arizona.

I'm one week into a 3 1/2 week journey that will involve stays in five states before I get back to my new home.

However, before clearing out the storage unit I will be heading up to South Dakota and Wyoming

Right now I'm calling my 5'ver "The UHaul"!

I took out both RV recliners and put in a smaller, yet more comfortable one from the house, had already removed the couch and put a desk in it's place (but may loose the desk in Denver to gain more space for much more important stuff), emptied all of the cabinets and closets.

I was loaded up for what I thought was going to be the life of full-timing on the road, but five months in to that and seeing what that was doing to my three year old (yesterday was it's 3rd. birthday) 5'ver and to my four Mainecoon cats...

Well...now it will be a camper again...not my home!
