After Market Warranty

We just purchased a 2008 Georgetown 350 TS and the dealer is recommending an after market warranty. I'm extremely skeptical about these types of warranties and after doing a Google search of the company I'm inclined to not walk but run away from this deal.

Has anyone had any dealings with Global Warranty/RV?

Btw, based on the value and the mileage, they want $4190.00 plus $399.00 for registration. Those are CDN funds. The term is 4 years.

Thanks

Not familiar with this warranty specifically, but these are a big profit item for dealers, so of course they recommend it. You can buy a lot repairs for 4 grand.

And the thing to really check into with these warranties is the "fine print." They typically don't cover water intrusion which is one of the biggest potential causes for repair work. Also, some of these warranties require the owner to show proof of certain preventive maintenance work being done before they cover repair work. The cost of the preventive maintenance work can be significant. So if you are considering buying the warranty I would check into these types of exclusions or requirements before signing.

Extended warranties can be a good thing if you go in with your eyes open. Just as important as what is covered is, what is excluded and why. Warranty companies are like insurance companies, they are not in business to pay claims. They are in business to make money.

I feel that I can fix or pay to have the little things fixed, ACs, refrig etc.
I would want the warranty to pay for big things like frames and delamination, they
don't cover frames or delamination.

Check out sites like "Good Sam" who offer extended warranties.
