I couldn’t agree more, run as fast and far as you can from Camping World! Even if they were the same price or a little cheaper, their service & warranty record is amongst the worst in the RV industry. Save yourself, buy an RV ANYWHERE but Camping World! Just ask around.

But when you ask, ask someone who has actually bought from them, not folks who have no first hand experience, but just like to pile on.
I have bought from CW as they had the lowest out the door price. You only get a bad deal from any dealer if you allow it. Nobody is forcing you to sign the deal.
As far as service after the deal, I never use any dealer for service or warranty work. CW is no different from most dealers in that aspect.
I only use independent service only or mobile RV techs after pre-authorization.

Remember CW gets the most complaints because they are most likely the largest dealer of rvs it goes without saying that they will have the most complaints.
Also why do people feel cash is still king at any dealer. Dealers make more money if you finance through them.

X2.
And I don't recall cash being king at a dealership.... Ever.
I do remember making smoking deals that were only available when financed. Just have to ensure there are no early payoff penalties, and then you can pay off immediately, if that is what you want.

Oh, I see, you assumed that I was just “piling on” and haven’t actually purchased a RV from CW. Well, you know what they say about “ASSuming”. I have actually purchased 4 RVs over the years. 3 from other dealers and 1 from CW. So, speaking from actual experience, I can say that I was very satisfied with my new purchases the other 3 dealers. Both with the purchase process and after purchase service. So, I can say with certainty that I had a year long horrible experience dealing with CW service. The CW sales experience was what I would call average. Not great, not horrible, just OK. That was in October 2014. Since that time, I have spoken with numerous other RVers during my campground visits who had similar first hand experiences. So, while I cannot speak for the others at this website who may be “piling on” CW, I can tell you that
CW’s reputation in this industry is probably the poorest of all RV dealerships. Even if half of their poor reviews were not actually from CW purchasers, they would still have the worst reputation in the industry. Now, if you had a great experience, I envy you and think that’s great. But don’t try to belittle all of us who have had poor experiences with CW by saying we are just “piling on”, because you know not of which you speak. Just start asking around, you might just end up learning something.

I sold cars in a previous life. Big mistake made by buyers, which increased my commission, was fixating on the trade amount. The difference is what counts as a buyer.

I would stay away from Camping World. They had our Roo since july to repair damage to our compartent doors due to theft and to repair the super slide since it would slide out but not back in, and to fix minor leaks in plumbing. We wanted to use it so called in Aug to check and see if we could use and they said the leak was fixed but still waiting for parts. Well leak was not fixed nor anything elase. We brought back and we were again tols a couple months later it was fixed again. I had told Told them the manufacture of the slide told me that since it would slide out it wouldnt be the motor but the switch. They replaced both, cut holes in the undercarradge and never patched them, never fixed the leak and non of the locks they replaced worked properly. Brought it back they then called and told me they patched the holes and fixed the locks but to fix the leak and now the floor due to the leak it would be a 10 hour job. When I picked it up they had not repaired anything. I would stay away from CW.

Long waits on repairs are common, my last trl went in April for minor plumbing and leveling jacks I got it back in November it’s not just a camping world problem.

We ended up going with the local dealer instead of CW (actually haven’t finalized the sale yet as my credit union is backlogged and dealer’s finance guy has been slow as well). That along with a huge snowstorm didn’t help lol.
We still consider getting 9000 for our trade-in a pretty good deal as we only paid 13000 for it new 3 years ago. And the new TT we’re purchasing is significantly reduced (leftover 2022 model).

Smart move.
Forest River says to Buy Local.
I always told my customers to buy their appliances from a family run business that services what they sell. Stay away from big box stores.
Most smaller stores had similar or better prices but the warranty service after the sale was the main reason.

I buy all my appliances from the lowest price store I can. Only had issues with one ever so guess I’m lucky. That said a repair guy was sent out by Maytag not the store. I worked as delivery driver for furniture store in high school. We sold appliances but didn’t have a repair man. My former boss always bought his truck f 150 from the local ford house to support local businesses. Made since he was a local business as well. I saw him a few years ago he was driving a Toyota not local to my small town. His answer was that service wait was too long and while he was getting a fair deal locally he felt that Toyota worked for his business more, didn’t expect it.
Local shops/ big box stores/ dealers get their help from the same place LOCALLY. I have never bought from camping world but I promise they have way more happy people than disgruntled or they would be out of business. I have had my trls in at the local guys two were slow and not very good. One was fast and work was good.

Two weeks ago all the local dealers were holding their in house RV show concurrent with the large show in Birmingham. (That show out priced themselves with fees) At one local dealer I was offered a very good trade in price for my trade in, but couldn't get other numbers right. Just down the road I was low balled by over 50% on trade in offer from the original dealer. PLUS immediately after telling me they always gave a offer price well below the MSRP which I already knew the MSRP. I had already identified two locations farther north by about 80 miles who offered the same camper for an average $ 18K less than this dealer. I showed them my research and asked why they were trying to rip me off and that this was not my first rodeo! They walked away and and never looked back. I had experienced a service problem with this dealer about three years ago but since they had made some changes (I had heard) I decided to try them again. Never again! It amazes me that these dealers think they can bilk the public, but, greed is rampart I guess, Buyer beware.
