Really going to make a huge dent in our travel plans this summer hauling to the USA. Generally go to Louden NH in July for the NASCAR Race but its cheaper to by a box of Canadian beer and watch it on the tele.

I was going to say Kenny would need it for his truck... But then I realized it was not a FORD... Oh yeah.. Went there!
I will say, we are thinking a trip to Niagara this year since it is in our favor.

Hoping to get to falcon beach.
Last year we went to clear lake..
Woke up in the morning to 6" of snow and ice.
Took us two hours from clear lake to neepawa. ( 45mins)
We gave up, and spent the night. It was a mess on the roads!

Thats totally up to you, but in all seriousness if you are American and were ever planning a trip to Canada now would be the time, your dollar is worth almost a dollar forty up here!!! Anyone who lives close to the boarder and is concerning purchasing a RV should cross over and buy it here you would just be taking it back to where it was made anyways!

but remember we also have close to a 100% mark up on many units. We were looking at a 27 foot bunk house in the states last spring at $27,000 USD and it was 52,000$ Canadian in Fredericton.
Our 2012 Salem was $33,899 here and $16,000 and change with Canadian taxes in from the states when our Canadian dollar was between 1.05 and 1.02 USD.

My sabre was 55 Canadian, and the quotes I got from the states was 55usd.
Most of the time, you are correct though. I guess they just really wanted to sell the unit.

So at what point does it (if ever) become reasonable to buy here and import it north? Just curious.

It made a lot of sense, two years ago. Dollar was close to par.
I used to do all my shopping online.
Free shipping to the border.
When I built my TJ, I made a 10k order, drove to the border and picked it up. Saved about 3 grand compared to local.
Now, it makes no sense, other than a few select items.
For instance, that magnum inverter is, even after exchange, a grand less from I marine.com than from my dealer.
My sabre, I paid $55 cdn.
There selling for $55k usd.
That 55 usd turns into $77k cdn.
For Americans, my $55 cdn is only $38k usd.
Americans could save $17k by buying it in Canada.

Looking at a Cedar Creek Silverback the price in the US is $44888 in Ontario the same unit is $75300 Canadian now doing exchange today that quote for the US unit is $63506 Canadian that is still a saving of $11794, in Canada you can get ripped off every day.

Honda cars made in Ontario at the Alliston plant when i was doing MP training were shipped to the USA and returned after 48 hours and stamped "IMPORTED" which marked the unit value up 5 grand.
we saved over 16,000 Canadian on our 2012 Salem.
car parts... a turn flasher for my daughters car was 42.80 Canadian plus 13% tax here and 12.05 taxes in at the VIP in Houlton - same part number same box.
My trailer surge supression system was 215 USD plus exchange from CW and from Amazon.ca it was 480 Canadian
the insulated pillows that fit into your vents in the trailer. Walmart Canada 14.99 + 13% Walmart USA Me. 7.99 plus 5.5%
but my favorite one is the toilet flush i just replaced at home. Made in Timmins Ontario it sells for 19.98 + 13% tax here at the Walmart
Walmart in Houlton Me. 3.99 + 5.5% tax.
These are a few of my favorite things.
Buy local they say, its good for business they say.

I am going to be buying a boat load of gas going back and forth thru Canada this summer. Trying to figure out the Liter/Gallon conversion and how far my dollar will go.
