Flagstaff\Rockwood List Price vs Reasonable offer

Not sure if this is "out of bounds" but at least I'll ask.

I'm looking at "2024's" and if they are gone then I'll look at "2025's"

Models 25SRK and 2515s

If the lower dealer list prices are asking 35K (plus their fees) what would be a reasonable offer or expectation given that the 2025 units are now on the lot?

Do do they typically stick with these list prices or is it reasonable to pick three and ask look for the lowest price? All of the dealers are within a reasonable distance.

Thoughts?

I would look at MSRP of the unit. Take 35% off of that. And use that as your sale price (and then they add their fees and what not). In my experience that is a "normal" discount. If they arent willing to meet that price, check the next dealer and see what they will do. Some dealers are more willing than others to move on price.

If you've got 3 dealers within a reasonable distance, then you've got a chance of getting a lower price.
The chances of the dealers having the exact same rig are pretty slim, so you'll just have to do the best comparison you have.

The chances of them discounting the rig just because it's got a 2024 registration are pretty slim. The newer rigs usually come with a higher price tag.

I'd suggest that you do a website search of the dealers to see which rigs they have on their lots and the price first. Most dealers are pretty good at updating their current inventory. Once armed with that knowledge, then you'll have a better chance of negotiation.

Hard to just compare by model number alone..first know the "base" price, then compare options and ask for price for the "add-ons". you might want to pay more if it has better options. Also, look at the Freight chsrge..closer to the factory it will be less. We bought our Rockwood from Rv Wholesalers after doing our homework & they negotiated with us a very reasonable price. FYI..that was in December 2019 pre-covid.

I have a spreadsheet with the units listed including options MSRP, fees they are charging, distance and basic notes regarding conversions.

It's been hard enough just getting them to document the fees. Takes about 3-4 emails or conversations fore they detail the fees. It's not like I'm calling g them and asking for their lowest price. I'm simply asking for their current listed price with all fees detailed

All dealers are different............... Some start at MSRP....... Some don't deal just give you their price.

I doubt too many give you much on line other than a base price to start from as it is a waste of their time as you may never hit their lot.

How far are you looking from your home area? I would try Stoltzfus RV in Adamstown Pa. ask for Lee or even Keystone RV Center is Greencastle Pa. they just came off the Hershey show and still might have some incentives to offer, good luck and keep us posted

I use RVWholesalers and Couch's RV for FR products for pricing. They will email you a price immediately. Then RVW will send you hundreds of emails after that so be careful what email address you use.

Jeff Couches is similar to RV wholesalers but has different lines. They carry Artic Wolf, RV wholesalers doesn't. I wouldn't hesitate with either, especially if you are in the area. I happen to live about half way between them. They do ship around the country and to Canada.

Buy from a reputable dealer

Ditto on the suggestion for Stoltzfus RV in Adamstown if that is convenient for you. We have bought 2 trailers from them, including our current Flagstaff, and they have competitive pricing and a good, responsive service department. Buying from a reputable local dealer is essential, IMHO.

If it's at all feasible for you, consider a remote purchase and traveling to get it. The price differences can be remarkable, far more than the extra cost of delivery or retrieval, including your time.

I live in Florida and bought mine at RV Wholesalers in N Ohio. (There are a few other dealers with similar business practices.) I had the privilege of time available to travel but they would have delivered it wherever I wanted. The delivery would be an extra cost, of course, but the purchase price was still low enough to consider it.

Local dealers may threaten you with slow or no service if you buy it elsewhere. The reality is that, with some exceptions, getting service on your RV is a slow affair anywhere.

For some of us, there's no such thing as a reputable local dealer.

The 2025 models have been on the dealer lots since last Spring or at least last June so 2024s are already "last year's models."

My camper buying experience was long ago but it appears RVWholesalers (a dealer not a wholesaler) is still using the same business model: lots of sales at very competitive prices. Mom & Pop dealers need to maximize their profit for the small number of sales.

RVWholesalers is a 3 hour drive from Goshen IN and they used to pick up trailers with their own trucks minimizing any freight charges. Maybe still. I ordered our Roo from them and it was delivered in a week from the factory from stock they'd preordered. Only option on the trailer I wouldn't have ordered was storm windows which are probably still in the attic of a house I used to own. Was impossible to beat their price then -- was several thousand dollars less that a dealer 25 miles away. Oh yeah, I ordered the camper on the phone.

Ashton is an easy day's drive to Lakeview on Interstate-standard 4-lane roads. Pick up the trailer, spend the night at a local state park to find any problems missed during pre-inspection and get them fixed, tow home the next day -- mini vacation.

Wanarv in Shipshewana, IN is the most reputable dealer I've ever met. Low prices with NO fees--not even a charge for a temporary tag. They also pickup from the factories so no transportation charges. They will email an order price list if they don't have the Rockwood in stock.

I did that and have not got one email after they sent me the quote.

Maybe you signed up for it when you asked for the quote?

We really like Wana RV too, but RV Wholesalers gave more on our trade-in & offered a decent discount if you went with their financing..have to agree in writing to at least one year before paying off. So the day after getting loan we paid like 95% toward loan & leaving about $20 month for a year.

There's an Ohio state park within a few miles of Lakeview. It's actually on the lake referenced in "Lakeview". Whether or not it will be open for the season, I don't know.

Ha ha great idea. How do they lock you into the year for the loan? They played that game when I bought my 2015 F150 They gave incentives for getting a loan but I wanted to pay cash. They told me you can't pay the loan off in a certain amount of time. I paid it off the next month and never heard a peep about it. Pretty sure I signed something about it also. That was a long time ago.

So you got a loan for the full amount at first? Do they let you put anything down to get there deal? Also after paying 95% of it they changed the min payment amount? What if you paid most of it and like left just a 1000 bucks or less on there loan?

Sounds like a fun game to play back on them...

I also do not like borrowing money for anything.

Thanks for the ideas...
