Our state wants to throw an additional $1.50 tax on top of the .65 cents already on smokes. Soon the tax will be more than the cost of the smokes.

Back up over $2 again in Richmond. Remember taxes are a large part of fuel prices. Still a bargain based on historical data thru 2016.

Alabama is now trying to raise the gas tax up to 10 cents per gallon over several years. If it passes the legislature it will go into effect this Fall as I understand it. THen again, the legislators will likely find a way to add a surcharge for their pockets. Prices now vary more than I could imagine. Less than 5 miles apart and a 12-14 cent difference. Same for diesel. Not a big fan of Walmart for most things but if I am near one, I top off main tank and aux tank with diesel.

At least the smokes tax is on those who choose to smoke. When I am in a convenience store and see some one pay for $5.00 worth of gas then buy a carton of cigarettes...I have to wonder why. And yes, I am a former smoker who could no longer justify the price nor the health effects. Gas tax affects everyone who need gas or other fuel for work, camping, etc.

Yeah, presently $2.24 in my area. At least E85 is still $1.42. Even with the lower mpg, E85 is still the best value on a per mile cost.

Hey PA -retired Mountain Guy.... THis is way I left PA years ago and didn't return after I retired. My family is in Eastern PA around the Philly metro area and I get shell shock every time I visit. Near my parents home outside Philly gas is already over 3.25 and in the city it's higher than that. I live in southern Maryland and chose to use BJs, with $0.10 discount using their Master Card or SAMS which both are cheaper than WAWAs and sometimes when in VA south of the Metro DC area even cheaper than MD.

Here in Massachusetts the average regular unleaded gas is $2.23. seems to have gone down over the past month from approx $2.32. No complaints here. Remember some counties or area are cheaper or higher than others.

Fuel tax affects everyone, even those who don't own or drive a vehicle. Fuel costs, which include the tax is figured into the cost of every thing a person buys.

In Portland, OR the cheapest place around is Costco (by far the cheapest).
Filled up yesterday - - $2.50 / gal for regular. Most stations are in the $2.80-$2.85 / gal range, and I can't remember it being any lower in the last year or more. Wasn't too long ago it was hitting the 3 buck range.
Oregon state fuel tax is 34¢ / gal but there can also be a county and/or city tax which is typically 2 or 3 cents - - except for the city of Portland (of course) which has a 10¢ / gal fuel tax.
