That is a smoking good deal! We just bought the same generator, refurbished from an authorized Champ. service center for $709. No problems, or complaints, but for an extra $100, I would have bought this one in a heart beat.

Not quite.
  • If you are a veteran, retired military, or on active duty, you get a 10% discount at Lowes.
  • If you are retired military or on active duty, you get a 10% discount at Home Depot. Nothing for vets.
Of course anyone can get the Lowes credit card and get 5% off. Just pay it off each month.

X2. Had an older MH with onboard propane generator. It emplied both saddle tanks from Friday pm till Sunday am. Yes we had to runn it full time. Turn it off to check oil only.

You are correct but forgot to include any Vet that has any disability thru the VA. The only thing required is a VA ID. All Vet’s get the discount on Veterans Day and I do believe Memorial Day. My local Lowe’s has given me the 10% plus the 5% for using my card. Don’t think the were supposed to do that.

I went with a Predator 3500 inverter electric start Harbor frt $640 on sale - mounted on the back of my 5er via a custom hitch - has done a great job now in my second year. I do wish I would've gotten an Easy Start by Micro Air so I could use a 2000W gen but likely would still go with the HF Predator.

Interested in the custom hitch. Did you build it or buy it? Looking for one for my eu3000i.

Great info!

Thank you! I’ve never heard of northern tool, acme tool or power equipment direct, so this is very helpful.

I personally bought one of these:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yeah, one might build something cheapeer but this is well engineered, nicely finished, and sturdy enough to stand and jump on.

24" x 24" and holds my Champion 3500 Watt Inverter with plenty of room for air circulation when I run it on the platform. Need to remove? Two bolts.

Not sure where you're at but at least Northern Tool and Acme Tool are pretty common in the PNW.

My advice would be to do your homework and decide on a make/model then seek the best price. Yes, Hondas and Yamahas are going to spectacularly awesome and blow rainbows out of their tailpipes; however, the current offerings on the market have some very impressive units out there for much less of a price.

Champion
WEN
Generac
Westinghouse

All brands worth considering.

I had a local welder build and install the hitch on my 5er but expect most RV dealers can recommend a local welding shop. do not use a sleeve add on for the bumper as it will not support the generator weight. After having the hitch installed I mounted an alum cargo carrier (Amazon or HF) including an HD anti wobble stabilizer (Amazon $11). Total cost was about $400. System works great - pm me and I'll send pics when weather here improves.

It will depend on the specific generator that you want. I saved on shipping over Amazon for the 2 i bought by getting them directly from the vendor.

Though the list of authorized repair shops was not accurate. I suggest making sure you have somewhere to take them for warranty and post warranty work. Call and confirm they will accept them.

I use a Boliy 3600SI which runs my 15000 btu AC. Has electric start and extend a tank capabilities. Weight is 75# and included free shipping. About $1200. This gen is not much louder than Honda's. https://www.bottomlinetrading.com/BO...FRKAxgodrgPNzw Later RJD

I know Honda’s are quite expensive but also really quiet. Are these other brands mentioned as quiet?
