Good price?
Looking at purchasing a 2023 forest river surveyor 19MDBLE and being quoted $27,699. Located in the south east and like the fact that the 2023 has been upgraded. I also found a 2022 but they wanted the same price. What are your guys thoughts?

Price looks good. BUT make sure that includes everything. Some dealers will put a lower price on the unit but then try and charge you for a PDI, battery, propane and anything else they can tack on.
I would get it in writing it is the “out the door price”.

That price does not include taxes but I do have it in writing, and will include propane and battery.

That's all well and good, but what about the PDI? Some dealers have been known to stick it to the customer with a hefty PDI charge. What it all boils down to is you wind up paying them to correct everything that's wrong with unit.

Pre Delivery Inspection
Before you give them a check, go through every system on the unit, if something isn’t working properly, they get no money till it’s fixed.
Somewhere on the site is a PDI checklist you can print out.

Here's some food for thought: We found a new, leftover 22 CC Champagne that we liked better than the 23 version, located in Texas, 1400 miles from our home in California. we got a written price showing a $72K discount, no PDI fee or other surprises. Truly a good deal. Put a deposit on it over the phone, and showed up about 3 weeks later to purchase it. Dealer took great effort to fix the minor stuff we found during our walk thru. This occurred over a two day period. After we left, we drove exactly 200 miles, on secondary highways before one of the China Bomb Westlake 17.5 inch h rated right rear tire blew. Trailer had minimal stuff in it, as we had removed all non essential items from our trade in Rockwood, and left them at home. Over the course of the next week, we spent nearly $5000 on a set of 5 goodyear tires, road service, swapping tires from side to side, an alignment check, three extra days added to our travels, a set of right side brakes plus labor. We are still seeing temps per the TST monitor of 165 degrees plus on both of the right side wheels. Now in the hands of FR warranty department. Our local dealer says it needs new axles; not sure how they figured that out. Remains to be seen what we are reimbursed for.
Would we do this again? Probably. If you decide to, I hope your experience goes smoother.

Sale price here in CA is $29995. Maybe because of shipping costs.
Do not pay PDI fee. Do not pay for "starter kit pack" w/c includes crappy items. Don't buy extended warranty.y ou can get it outside dealership for less, so as gel coat protection.
Bottom line, looks like a good deal. BUT try to negotiate for a better price! Remember, 2024s are arriving and they won't have much room for the old inventories. Good luck buddy!
Mine is a mh sticker price with almost $130. Sale price was 118. I monitored it for a month and used other dealerships price reductions. I went to the dealer and offered $90k for the one we like. Within a few hours, we got the deal! Plus the crappy starter kit for free! Good luck!
Best is to still try to negotiate the price when you physically show up at the dealership.

Like the others are saying, do the homework and ask lots of question. I have a 2020 26 ft. Surveyor which I bought new. My wife and I just love it.
Hope you pick out what is best and Happy Camping!

$28K sure looks like MSRP to me but I'm long out of touch on new camper prices and we bought from the high-volume RV Wholesalers (which is, of course, a dealer not a wholesaler) for about 60% of MSRP. Their business model makes a profit by selling several dozen trailers while Mom & Pop dealers have to make a lot of money on the couple they sell.
The trailer has to get from Indiana to Georgia somehow on it's own wheels and you can do it for much less than the dealer's delivery charge.
My opinion on the "starter set" differs. I recommend newbys get it. You'll probably eventually replace all the items with higher quality in the course of a couple seasons but at first without experience you don't know what works best The starter set gives you a base line. I still have a set of leveling blocks in my shed that I bought without any experience and doubt I used more than once.

I also live in the southeast (Alabama). Have purchased 4 travel trailers since 2017 from 4 separate dealers 1 being camping world. Never been charged for PDI. Don’t think it’s usually charged as an extra in this part of the country
