While its been interesting to read this Thread for all the Side Comments, folks should do themselves a favor and adopt an App such as GasBuddy for their Phones/iDevices AND Laptops.
The GasBuddy Website also has a Gas Price Map for US/CA that is Zoomable from National/Regional Trends down to Prices at Individual Stations.
There are Competitors to this App (only a few which provide Updated/Crowdsourced Prices), and the App has its Issues (totally dependent on a 3G-4G/Wifi Connection, something not always available while driving the Highways and Backroads). But, it sure Beats simple Word-of-Mouth and trying to remember where Cheap Gas was last time you drove through that Town...

I think what this thread is all about is the interest of seeing how the fuel prices vary from area to area.
Gas buddy is good but it does not do me any good as buy the time I drive out of my way to the station the price has changed anyway. I am not going to drive out of my way to save 2 cents. I have seen a station loaded with cars waiting to save 1 cent. The station that was empty next door was only 1 cent higher. I dove in & got my gas & out while the others next door were idling burning gas to save that 1 cent a gallon.
I have seen gas prices around here change hourly and also stay the same for days.

I agree that Common Sense should RULE when the issue is saving only 1-2 cents. And I know that Gas Prices at the Pumps can change Very Rapidly - often in time for the Evening Rush Hour given the combo of Electronically Controlled Pumps and Savvy Station Owners. And sometimes, the Prices listed by any App or Ad or even Word-of-Mouth is simply Out-dated or Wrong...
But that isn't the benefit of Apps like GasBuddy...
When used around Town, especially in Larger Cities where one doesn't regularly cruise past all the potential Gas Stations within a "reasonable radius", one can quite often find a "Local Price War" between a couple of Stations who ultimately offer All Customers a 15-20 cent Savings due to "Overly Exuberant Competition". Most of us would drive a few miles or sit in a moderate line (engine OFF not Idling) to Fill-Up under those Conditions...
BUT... That still isn't the biggest Benefit of an App such as GasBuddy...
Imagine yourself on the Highway and knowing that you need Gas soon. You are coming up to a relatively unknown-to-you Town with 2-3 Off-ramps that will each have a differing selection of Brands of Gas Stations (or the Highway runs through the Town but you know that there are likely clusters of Gas Stations at both ends of Town). Now, as long as you have enough Gas remaining in your tank, you have a Choice: Do you stop at the first Gas you see (or at least the Cheaper of the first Cluster) ?? Or do you keep driving through Town if GasBuddy can tell you that a Station at the other end has 20-30 cent Cheaper Pumps ??
Or, you still have 100-150 miles of range left but know you are coming to a State Line before then. Having easy Advance Knowledge of the Prices on both sides of that Border, you can decide whether to "Short Pit" to avoid Pricier Pumps in the Next State, or Tough-It-Out in order to get across to Cheaper Gas.
These are examples of the reasons why I use a tool such as GasBuddy...

You are are just putting salt into our california gas price crazyness....to go along with a whole bunch more of our crazyness.....I think it may pay for those with slightly over 2 bucks a gallon locations to ship me some to california where I am currently paying 4.45/gallon for regular (wife's car) and 4.85 for premium (factory requirement for my car)....
