Insurance Providers for new 5th wheel

Rather than suffer the wrath of posting in a year old thread, getting the holy old port batman, I have a simple question.

Just bought, well made a down payment, haven't officially signed yet, on a Cherokee AW 3660, and need to insurance. My old trailer, a Coleman 264BH is/was with Gieco. Before I call and have policies switched out, I want to get a list of other insurers and get some quotes since I have a week before I can pick it up.

Currently trying to get a quote with Good Sam, but the trailer isn't listed.

If you are a Vet, call USAA. Best there is!

Progressive

Progressive does an excellent job also. They include replacement of the trailer and road service. I had a $1200 bill to get my truck and trailer off Bozeman Pass, they reimbursed me without a hassle.

Progressive here.

We had to file a few claims over the years (2 due to tire blow outs which shredded the side of the camper) and they handled them end to end for us.

We also like their replacement cost coverage so as to not worry about depreciation.

USAA has been on the high side each time I look for quotes on bundling. We have Amica which is also highly rated and have received good service from them.

Safeco (brown and brown of kentucky), i had a 33 foot chaparral 5th wheel (284rl), it costs me $506.00) for 12 months. They are cheaper cost than anyone else..

So far quotes are coming back at nearly 10 times what the Coleman costs me. Been on hold for 90 minutes now trying to get the old one off my policy and get a quote from Gieco. Ridiculous. 15 minutes, got someone, who transferred me to RV, then the call dropped. Been in queue now for 56 minutes on the third call attempt.

So sick of hearing use the mobile app or online. I CAN'T use the app or ONLINE. it won't let me!

are you looking just for a trailer policy or do you want to bundle house, auto, trailer? bundle prices may be different than the individual policies but they usually have some good discounts. try going to an independent agent that can shop across companies for you. i used on and ended up with progressive but then the raised the rates. i am now using a captive agent for american family but their price for the bundle was the best i could find.

Usaa actually uses Progressive for their boat, RV and motorcycle insurance. Progressive thru USAA is good.

After nearly 2 hours on the phone, 90 minutes or more on hold, I finally got the old Coleman removed, and got quote, with replacement coverage, on the new one. Went from $115 every 6 months to $220 every 6 months. Sticking with Gieco for now. Comprehensive is the main thing on it since it sits most of the time. So $36 a month vs $159 for the others, including Progressive.

Thanks for the inputs for the various providers. I haven't heard back from Safeco, but from several of the others. Not a Vet so don't qualify for USAA.

National General

You might give National General a call at 877-849-9022. I have been a USAA member for over 45 years and they were higher than Nat Gen. The dealer from whom we purchased our trailer recommended Nat Gen. I could not get other agencies to respond. We have a 2019 Forest River Coachmen Clipper Cadet.

National General Insurance was the best bet for us... according to our agent, a lot of insurers won't insure if it is stationary like ours.

Been with USAA for over 50 years, but each time I call them about RV insurance they point me to a marketing partner because they don't actually have underwriters and insure directly for RVs they tell me. Good Sam and their partner National General have been the best for me for the last 2 years and handled a claim I had with efficiency.
