Near end of warranty question

My Coachmen travel trailer is 3 months from the end of the one year warranty. Received a call today from my dealer, reminding me of the upcoming end of warranty and an offer for them to make an appointment so I could drop it off next month for them to perform a complementary 15 point inspection so that they could identify and repair any issues prior to warranty expiration. While I'm sure this is primarily a ploy to get me there to try to sell an extended warranty, was wondering if anyone else experienced this and took their dealer up on the offer of the "checkup"? My paranoid nature tends to make me think there will be some hidden agenda that would make me regret taking them up on this offer.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Sorry but my personal thoughts are there is NOTHING free in life. I feel this is just a way to make some money either from you or the manufacturer. How long are they going to keep your unit when they " find" something to replace under warranty.

Me...I stay away from dealerships unless absolutely necessary. Mine is out of warranty next month. I fixed everything that needed to be fixed so far. Just received new led flush light today from CW. It burned out because my roof leaked a little bit and it got wet. I got two shipped and taxed for $41.71 total. I now have a spare. I fixed the roof for one tube of Dicor. Not worth fighting for warranty IMO...

I don't understand the suspicion. Maybe they find something and take care of it. Really what is the down side? Pretty nice offer is what I think. Maybe it's just good customer service.
Personally, I would make the appointment with an open mind. You can always say no to any sales pitch.

I have taken them up on it, for my last two trailers. One they found nothing, the other they did find a minor issue. The dealer gave us back our trailer, ordered the part, and then had us come back to have it fixed.

I like working with our dealer (Campers Inn of Macon/Byron, GA) and would assume they are looking out for me, instead of assuming they are out to rip me off. They may not be the norm, but they have been all I've dealt with. If they say something needs to be fixed, you still have the option of saying no. Really, what do you have to lose?

I did it with one of the original Camper's Inns in NH. Yes, was a sales ploy that I easily refused. With all the first year problems I was having with my new coach, it was good that the dealer (not me) made a list of issues in their records so we can recall that information later. So, I'd recommend it. They might see something you missed.

The extended warranties in my mind are a waste. They do not cover major items like delaminating walls. I did an analysis on the total repair cost versus a warranty on my last coach that I had for 16 years. The warranty would have been substantially more money.

My TT warranty expires next month and I too received that call for a free inspection to fix any issues before the warranty expires. The problem I have is that I would really like to avoid hauling my camper down these salt covered roads.

What's your opinion of the dealer you bought your TT/RV. Did they fix all your warranty problems to your satisfaction? If you doubt the dealer have several of your camping friends check out the TT/RV, then get the repairs before warranty ends.

I am reading the replies and I wonder.....

If there is something wrong with my RV, why do I care when the warranty goes out. I'd rather have someone (anyone) fix it so there won't be BIGGER problems in the future! My safety in the RV is more important than a date on a calendar.

I would bring it in just to see what they say, if anything, is wrong with it, it's always good to have another set of eyes look at things, especially someone that sees these things everyday.

I got a letter from Campers Inn of Mocksville, NC. We took our Sunseeker up there, over nighted in a close campground. Was there at the appointed time. 2 guys looked over my unit, replaced a gas regulator, no charge, found a small bump on the exterior near the genny, was given the option to repair or watch. I chose to watch it. I had not noticed it. They made a note and took pictures. They did not try to sell anything until the salesmen found me setting up in a diesel pusher playing the radio. Actually had a fun day.
I would say, take it and enjoy the day.

If the dealer isn't too far from home and you have the time and inclination, I say take them up on the offer. You can always exercise your right to say "no" if they do try and sell you something.
