I use Good Sam and the service has ranged from excellent to awful. I've called them about half-a-dozen times and for the most part they truly rescued me. My first experience was on I-10 about 100 miles east of Tucson. It was the middle of nowhere and I expected a long wait. Service truck showed up in 20 minutes. Another time they never showed up and I was assisted by a friendly crew from the Texas DOT. I think the level of service really depends on the local provider in the area you require service and the availability of a local provider. Bear in mind that all national roadside assistance plans use local providers, many of them are the same regardless of which national service you use.

I have GSRA and have used it several times including once in Canada. The service was reasonably prompt. I renewed last year for 5 years. Saved quite a lot by going for the extended period. Good Sam does not get involved with the service beyond tire change or towing. Repair and parts cost are strictly between you and the service provider. Labor cost for onsite repair can be expensive. I paid $100 per hour plus parts to have a wheel bearing replaced beside the road in Colorado last year. That was after GSRA paid the guy $300 just to come to where I broke down. I think GSRA is worth every penny I paid for it.

I was a Coach-Net member starting in 2008 and used them once for a flat tire. No complaints. I renewed 4/17 by electronic check and mid 9/17 I noticed a credit on my checking account for the full 4/17 - 4/18 period. I called Coach-Net and was advised my check had gone from dept. to dept. and they couldn't match it to any account so issued a refund. In effect I had no coverage for the 2017 camping season and if I'd called with a claim things would have got ugly very fast. They suggested going forward I pay with a credit card.
BTW,the electronic check has my name/address and the memo section had my Coach-Net member # so I don't know what the real problem was.
I still intended to go with them this Spring, but Good Sam had a super deal going on so I'm taking a chance on them.

Consider adding road side service to your rv/auto policy. I had good Sam and coach net before but finally checked with gieco and they had it much cheaper. They have different coverages tho. Just another idea for you.

We had Good Sam for ten years. The first time I called to tow my truck to the closest dealer that could work on it which was 70 miles, they said they would only pay 12 miles because that was the closest dealer. I had called them and they were booked for a week. Additionally I needed our 5th wheel moved to another campground 6 miles up the road. They wouldn’t do because we were not stranded on the road. Thanks to a camper near us he moved our trailer. After I submitted a complaint Good Sam finally refunded my out of pocket.
I now have AAA Plus RV, they assured me there would not have been a problem if we had had this plan at the time. Good Sam outsources road assistance and that company makes more money by denying service.

I had a very bad experience with AAA. I had a wheel bearing go out and we called AAA. After 5 hours of waiting, they called and said we were on our own and to bill them for any expenses. I bought a generic hub and fixed the problem myself. The TT was an older Holiday Rambler.

We have had GOod Sam since 1990 when we moved to Alaska
We love it for numerous reasons 1 wife used to lock her keys in every car truck etc weve owned flat tires etc over numerous rv s and trailers whether in USA (alaska or lower 48 ) or even Canada. Timely response depends on where you are located at the moment of crisis. They are definetly RV conscious though and I’ve always had good customer service. SO each to their own ideas of service and cost. Which speaking of seems very reasonable

Thanks to everyone for their input on roadside assistance. I now have several avenues to approach.

Check out FMCA also. We joined this year and when our GS roadside runs out we will be switching over.

Membership is now for all and not just motorized coaches any longer. Tire replacement alone discount will cover the membership for a few years at least.

I have Coach-Net and I needed a tow on my truck but I didn’t call them, I called a tow truck. My truck had a problem just last week and before I could call anyone some me mechanic stopped by and fixed the truck.

Yeah, you are so right. I'm really trying hard to change my attitude and not let things like that bother me!

Currently deciding between Coach Net and Good Sam. Wondering which is better/more efficient, etc.

So it appears before my free period is up in December, I need to call AAA plus and make sure exactly what they cover. They indicated to me on the phone when I inquired that they would cover me just like our cars over the years but I don't want to get stuck. We do have the tire package from Good Sam.

You need the AAA RV Plus not just the Plus.
