need info -- please help

would appreciate any info regarding the second year warranty by Forest River. did not know about this till I saw on this forum. If you use the second year warranty, what do you do about the following years. we are picking up our new camper hopefully this week and they talked us into getting the extended warranty for $1500 through them. Also any info on RV Direct would be appreciated. Please help.. Getting a Rockwood 8265 fifth wheel. Can anyone give pointers on what to look for?

I read alot about it here, I sent mine in last week, I have not heard back yet. There is a thread about it if you do a search, and they have the application.

I only paid a 100.00 for my extended warranty.

if the dealership you are buying your 5th wheel from doesnt give you the papers for the 2nd year warranty -
Download the form - send in your money within 10 days - you will recieve a signed copy within 10 days and you will be all set on the 2nd year warranty thru Forest River

these dealers don't mention it because they get a commission on the 3rd party extended warranties and not the 2nd year FR factory warranty.
they act like they never heard of it.

cancel that $1500 warranty while you still can.

When using the 2 year forest river warranty what do you do after that? Does anyone do an extended warranty when that expires. Sorry we are new to this. Thank you.

since I am a very handy guy and dont mind tearing into stuff I can tell you in my case I will just do the work myself and not worry about an extended warranty.

I think alot is going to depend on how much it cost's, how much the dedctable is and what you are trying to get fixed.

My father has had extended warranties on his previous 5th wheel and the last two motorhomes - with what he paid for the warranty and the deductable it has paid for itself the first time he used it on both occassions - I think one of them was the generator and the other was the brakes system.

If you have a basic camper with no expensive items like generator or air brakes or diesel engine then I personally dont think the extra warranty is worth it - read the fine print cause there are some things they put as exclusions as well

I agree. I bought the second year warranty, and never once needed it. Stuff was easy to fix myself, thanks in a big part to this very forum!! Most problems will turn up in the first few months. Randy
