I use Camping World for most modification items and novelty stuff. Keep an eye open for their sales and\or free shipping specials. Tweety's RV supplies is another popular vendor although I've never personally bought thru them. MakariosRV.com is a great vendor for electrical do-dads such as converters and the like. I picked up a Progressive Electrical mgmt surge protector and couldn't find one for less....anywhere.

I use Amazon. My wife has the "prime" which is $70 a year. But you get free shipping. Pays for itself, especially at Christmas. Amazon seems to beat everyone's prices by a few bucks...

No more free shipping to CT. Governor here installed an 'Amazon tax' which is our state sales tax applied to all Amazon.com purchases. And when was this done you ask?.....right before Christmas.

Amazon Prime ($70 a year) will just about beat anything else out there - I am a Good Sam Lifetime member and Amazon even beats my CampingWorld discount (ok and for not Amazon is tax free!)

MakariosRV has the best prices on Progressive Industries products, that I have found. Most other big ticket items, I get from Adventurerv.net. Shipping can be a bit costly on some items, but I still usually come out ahead. I find Camping World to be too pricey on most things with the exception of the occasional sale.

Rattle, the commerce clause of the US Constitution was the deciding factor for years on why a non bricks and mortar stores like amazon, weren't bound to charge tax. The decision that talks about this the Quill decision. But like most things, the states (guess which ones) got together and has fine tuned their individual laws over several years, to get those types of transactions taxed. I guess trying to buy from the smaller guys that arn't yet compelled to collect tax, other than their own domiciled locations, would price their products a little better for shoppers. IMO

I have been known to get a good deal on E-Bay here and there. Just watch your prices.

WhiteSolera, Our Governor is a snake. It is true we, as citizens, were supposed to report our online purchases and pay a sales 'use' tax but few ever did. That snake, in order to bring Amazon into CT and build a distribution center (which would automatically make their CT sales taxable), gave Amazon huge tax incentives. To balance the loss of tax receipts from that business, he pushed that Quill deal thru way ahead of time taxing the folks here ahead of ground even being broken. In the not so distant future, we're planning on heading down south to become transplanted Yankees.

Ok, y'all - this thread is about places to buy RV parts online, *not* about the sales taxes that go with it.

To me there is no one difinitive answer to questions such as this on this forum. Everyone will have an opinion and everyone will be right due to there experiences at a particular time. Others may have had a completely different outcome with the same vendor. Seems to me that all need to do their own shopping on the net and draw their own conclusions while comparing apples to apples. I would hate to recommend a company to someone and them get screwed. Just my opinion.

I go with Amazon and Amazon Prime. If you're a prime member, take advantage of their free movies, too.

I have used Amazon for most purchases. I bought from Tweetys once and had good service. Just now I checked the price of the Progressive Industries 30 amp power management unit I want at MakariosRV website. You guessed it..., cheaper at Amazon.

Thanks for everyones replies. I guess I should have stayed away from the perception of a "loaded" question. I do appreciate the experiences people have had with the assorted online vendors. Some people get upset at "loaded" questions like this and that was not my intent. I was just trying to get an idea of where everyone shopped online for their RV needs...

My .02. There have been a couple times that I needed something ASAP from Camping World. I paid for the expedited shipping but it took a week or 2 several times to receive merchandise. This was due to Camping World taking a week or so to get the product out the door.
I have been using Amazon for cheaper pricing and better shipping. I'm much happier with Amazon.

I'm a big Amazon shopper, and yes I popped for the Amazon Prime Membership and it is well worth it.
As a side note, many times you can find a price on Amazon but also locate an online retailer that will match or beat the price by 10% of the difference such as ETrailer.com
Lesson is to shop smart, look at the bottom line after shipping, taxes and handling charges are totaled. Even more important is if you are not familiar with the company do a little research before placing your order. Then use a credit card that offers buyers recourse should something go not as expected.

Nah, no interest in that state. I'm thinking TN, GA, or Fla.

A definite place to shop is walmart.com. They will ship to home or closest store. Great prices as we'll.
