Price gouging of RV owners!!!
Please copy and paste the following web address into your favorite browser.
I have posted below an email I sent to PPL Motor Homes. This is the ad for outdoor led lighting for your camper. About a week ago I purchased this same light strip for under $20. Please tell everyone of your RV buddies to BEWARE!!! of rv parts stores trying to gouge their customers. Do your homework BEFORE buying anything rv related.
LED Light Strip for your RV-pplmotorhomes.com
"Dear Sirs
I have been a good customer for a lot of years. This ad you sent to me is the most outrageous example of price gouging I have ever seen. You can go to a lot of web sites and buy this item exactly as advertised for less than $20. What in the #%@**** makes you think that I would ever buy from you again. Your customer ratings just went down to a big fat 0 (ZERO)!!! Yes I will tell everyone about this.
Your Humble X- customer

I'm not sure I'll quite doing business with PPL because they charge more for this itme than their competitors.
Perhaps you could post where you found this item cheaper, I might be interested in buying one.

It's called "due diligence", Miss Karen......you wouldn't buy a car, or boat, or tires, or even a toaster without looking at pricing from several sources, would you? RV's and all the parts that go on 'em or in 'em are really no different. With the internet, all can be found, compared and purchased at competitive prices

Good catch, but unfortunately it's nothing new. It's what's called a free market, and it's common place. Many items sold by one company can usually and easily be found for less in this age of "finger walking thru the web".
Whenever I'm looking for, or see an add for a new item, I'll try and get part # and manuf., then go directly to Amazon.
Almost always find it cheaper than the price being asked. Can't remember the last time I purchased anything from Camping World. While not outragious in price, I've found huge savings on a lot of items they list, even "on sale", by just going to Amazon.
But, companies like the one you found will still try to get as much as they can. Free enterprise...

Maybe I am missing something but I just looked on 5 different sites and the Kit (799530774795) is between 150 to 200 dollars on all other sites. It seems that the 99 dollar deal they sent you was in fact a good deal. i would email them and apologize if I were you...........

I have 2 of these in my Billiard room I paid about $18 bucks for each on EBay. The RV dealers always price gouge for anything related to an RV. It's ridiculous what they charge. I never buy anything from a RV dealer because of their price gouging practices and my next RV purchase will be from a wholesaler not a dealer. Dealers all rate a 0 in my book.

You can buy the same strip, but maybe not the same UPC code, for a lot less on other sights. I purchased the same lights and controller but no ac adapter for $13 Canadian.

I think that the OP may be comparing two different items, 10 to 15 dollars difference is common, not 80 dollars on a 100 dollar item. It does pay to shop around for sure. I am frugal.....not cheap!

I don't think it's a big deal. It's on the consumer to research for the lowest price.
Gas stations do the same thing. I can go to the grocery store and buy a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk for maybe $4. Go to the gas station and it's twice that.
As long as people are willing to pay the higher price, they'll continue to charge the higher amount. Caveat emptor.

Suicide Saints ... you can buy these waterproof 5050 LED light strips, remote, and power supply all day long on EBay or Amazon for $20 give or take. I've installed several on friends fivers, had a set on my SOB, and now have one on my Silverback. The strips fit right where the plain white LED strip's are on 2015 - 2016 CC's. Otherwise they come with an adhesive backing. The remote sensor fits right between the inner and outer awning arm and wires right in to the existing 12V source. CW and PPL rip you very well on items like this. The OP is right on.
Sorry ... you reposted while I was typing.

No worries, I didnt think to just search keywords in amazon/ebay, at first I was just searching the exact kit listed by the OP. Now this has me wanting to switch mine out for the colored ones!

It is buyer beware when it comes to RV or boating parts. Like some one said, dealers will charge high if some one is willing to pay it. I was in a hardware store and purchased a specialized stretch tape for $4.50. The RV dealer wanted 14.25 for the same brand and same tape. It pays to to know or shop around. I bought a small bottle of Startron for $8.90 at Wallyworld. Boat dealer wanted $12.95 for the same size.

It's my understanding that Camping World gouges you for many items that you can buy cheaper elsewhere. Why get all miffed? Just buy somewhere else.

I posted this complaint for the rv owners that want all the cool gadgets for their rvs but do not want to or can't pay rv dealers higher prices. New rv owners may benefit from my fustration. You are right "As long as people are willing to pay the higher price, they'll continue to charge the higher amount". I do so wish that everyone had the common sense to stop paying the price of others greed.

I wish the same thing. But there are always going to be people out there that will pay those prices.
It's the same people that go back to the car dealership to get gouged on repair/maintenance costs when they could go to a local mechanic or DIY for a fraction of the cost.
I'm sure you sent the email with the best of intentions but it will probably just end up in the circular file. The best you can do is not go there yourself and tell your friends to do the same.
