Pricing question on new 2017 TT

I found a new 2017 TT that I like at a dealer in the midwest. I've negotiated down to about 35% off of the list price (MSRP) of the price on the build sheet for the coach. I offered them 38% off of list so we're about $1K apart and they have come back and stated that their last offer was their final offer.

My concern is that the coach is now at least 17 months old, tires have just sat there in one place, roof has been exposed to the elements for about a year and a half. Still, NADA used pricing for this same make/model is about the same or slightly higher than their offer.

I'm wondering if there is might be additional strategies to get them closer to agreeing to my price.

Thoughts?

35% is normal discount for a new one. Yours is already 3 model years old.

TT sales have been thru the roof for the past 10 years... if you do not buy that trailer someone will...

I would have a bank check made out to them, walk in, talk to the manager and lay the check on the table with your amount on it... and see what they say.

Their attitude might be the reason that the tt is still on the lot.
Doesn't sound like you've got any negotiating room left with that dealer.
Sooooo... it depends on how much you want that rig. I think your concerns are all valid.

Thanks for the thoughts, much appreciated. I'm in no hurry to buy and saw the opportunity of a new 2017 as opportunistic. If TT's were really all that hot, it would have sold a while ago IMO. Sales is about inventory turns and somebody apparently lost track of this one for a year and a half and/or they were too inflexible on price.

This particular dealer is not local to me which again is not in their favor since the same model trailer routinely shows up in my home state, and I have no problem buying a used one either that I can vet personally.

And yes, they will likely sell it but the question is when will that happen at the price they are asking? I can't answer that since it's 3 model years old at this point.

End of the day, if this negotiation is taking place either via the phone or the internet, there's
one reason they're in no hurry to meet your price. You wouldn't believe the number of
times they've been down this road only for the "buyer" to never show or follow through
with their own offer. End of the day, if this is the unit I really wanted because it had
everything on my list, I'd show up in person, and as someone has already pointed out
have money in my pocket ready to hand over.

A leftover model is no worse than a used one, that's for sure. Just make sure it comes
with the same warranty, meaning a year from the day your purchase it as opposed to
an in-service date. Don't assume anything, confirm it all. The warranty alone should
cover any issues that may have come up from "sitting", as end of the day, most TT's
tend to sit more than they don't.

Good luck and keep us posted!

We bought a left over new TT and got it for 45% off of MSRP.
And that was a West Coast dealer! Having done a lot of RV pricing, I've never seen a new RV priced that low at any West Coast dealer except this one.
That's why we jumped on it.

Yes. RV trader IMO could see a lot of improvement to it's search algorithm and display functions. While you can search on a lot of specifics, what comes up isn't always as clearly scrubbed as I would have hoped.

As I said, I'm in no hurry. I'm happy to put a deposit down on the one I put in the offer for to make it real. In the end, their coach, their decision on what they are willing to take to part with it I think.

If new matters...I think you could buy a 2019 at 35% of.... or at least most of the time. Go to RV Wholesalers website and build the trailer you like(assuming they have it) and get an instant quote. This will tell you what they "should" cost.

Good luck on your quest as it is part of the fun!

Thanks. Great idea. I was not able to find the model number on the RVW site, or any in the class for that matter so I suppose that they do not typically deal in the one/family that I am looking at.

Might help if you posted make and model of TT you're looking for.

RVW used to sell Windjammers, as did RV Direct.
But since they are being discontinued, they may not be available for pricing.

We looked at a MH at a dealer in Elkhart, IN. It didn't have the features we wanted on this floor plan. Dealer wanted to sell that one to me but we wanted different options. we went to Dave Arbagast north of Dayton, OH. About 4 hours away, ordered from a pick list the way we wanted, and got the MH for $8000.00 less than the asking price from a dealer just minutes away from the manufacturer. Look around and get what you want, and maybe pay less.

I had read that. Do you believe the V-lite will also be discontinued or that they will consolidate lines. I had assumed that having a Winjammer and V-Lite was duplicative and ultimately wasteful.

All the V-nose trailers are being discontinued and the last of them have recently come off the line, according to someone who toured the Rockwood/Flagstaff factory.
