Dealer's have to pay transportation costs to get their units to them. Whether FR provides it (@ roughly $1.65 per mile factory to dealer) or the dealers elects to have his own drivers go get them. It's really an unavoidable true cost of doing business.
I'm very familiar with Wana RV in Shipshewana. When I was looking for my prior Kodiak travel trailer, I wanted to go get it up north in Indiana myself. It wasn't so much the extra cost to ship from Shipshewana to Dallas TX that concerned me (~$1600 at the time) it was that I knew our first long vacation was going to be heading North to that part of the country. Why have the dealer bring it down to Texas and then me have to haul it back North for vacation.
You can't buy a trailer local and then pickup at the factory (at least the ones I looked at). Wana RV beat everyone's price substantially. Their reputation is excellent.
