That's exactly opposite if what I found. USAA alone is way camper.

And this is why Insurance threads are meaningless. Sort of like truck threads.

There is no way on this earth that two people can accurately and validly compare RV insurance (or any other kind). If two people live next door to each other, and are identical in age, health, etc....and have the same RV and the same coverage with the same company........they will NOT have the same rates.

Casualty insurance varies greatly by:
Age
Coverage types
location
mobility habits
age of unit
options selected
claim history
deductible selected
method of payment

and on and on.

Valid comparisons can't be done.

That said, there have been some pretty sorry Insurance companies in the past.......if you buy with "Wild Life of Texas", don't expect to get much.

USAA Coverages

After 39 years with USAA I am weaning myself off gradually and finding better coverages. They used to be good but not so much anymore. IMHO.

I got a quote from them. About the same price as Progressive not using USAA. Good Sams is not the actual insurance company. They act as a broker.

Correct! They are a broker for Progressive, Foremost, and National General. We had Foremost for years through a local broker. Just recently I called Good Sam and got a quote for 250 less than we were paying. This policy is through National General and has a slight advantage over the Foremost policy we had on a few items.

I went to my insurance office a couple of weeks ago and redid my Progressive RV policy.

Cut the price almost in half.

First, I changed the payout value as it was on the high end since I had just paid if off completely last year, was full-timing in it and wanted to cover the payout price, but is now at a more reasonable and actual value of the 5'ver.

Plus, I changed it to storage status, as it has been sitting in the storage lot since last August doing nothing but costing me money and collecting dust.

Now all I have to do is call if I plan on taking it out for a trip and they will change it to travel status for roughly $1.00/per day.

One other interesting note:

I found out that if you have your RV sitting on a consignment lot for sale, standard RV coverage WILL NOT COVER any damage or theft of said RV.

My agent said that is a standard procedure for most all insurance companies.

My USAA travel trailer insurance is $77/year for a $20K trailer. $1000 deductibles and $1Mil liability since its on my auto insurance. Never asked about if there was a price while it was in storage but what a PITA to have to call them every time I would have to move it. We use our trailer once or twice a month except for July and August!
